Comments about Slik Slik Pro 330DX Tripod Black with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Quick Release Head (Height 18.5 - 63", Maximum Load 6.6 lbs):
This product has been more useful than a tripod I bought for $186. I now have a tripod for all uses.
My next venture is to use this tripod for portraits.

Comments about Slik Slik Pro 330DX Tripod Black with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Quick Release Head (Height 18.5 - 63", Maximum Load 6.6 lbs):
I found the tilt and pan head too heavy and the handles were so long it was hard to carry hiking. I replaced the head with a F2 Flashpoint ball head. It's lighter and less cumbersome.
I don't like the location of the locking collar of the center column. You have to remember to lower the center column before closing the legs. The legs have to be spread wide so that you can turn the collar.
It's a good tripod over all.

Comments about Slik Slik Pro 330DX Tripod Black with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Quick Release Head (Height 18.5 - 63", Maximum Load 6.6 lbs):
If I had to do this over again, I would order one with a ball head instead of the 3-way pan head. The pan head is fine and of good quality, but I find it too fussy to work with. I've since added a SLIK Pro 800 ball head to this tripod and I'm much more pleased with how the whole setup performs. I'm relatively new to digital photography and I'm having to learn these lessons as I go, but trust me on this...a ball head is definitely the way to go. The tripod itself is fairly lightweight but feels quite solid even with the center column halfway extended. Easy to adjust and your camera feels quite safe and secure when locked in. I'm using a Rebel Xsi and lenses up to 70-300mm without a problem. Highly recommended!

Comments about Slik Slik Pro 330DX Tripod Black with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Quick Release Head (Height 18.5 - 63", Maximum Load 6.6 lbs):
I have modified this tripod in the following ways:
1. Replaced the center column with the optional shorter column which reduces the leg set weight to exactly 2 pounds.
2. Replaced the SLIK head with the Adorama Flashpoint F-1 magnesium alloy ball head which weighs 11 ounces.
This combination at 2 pounds 11 ounces is an ideal travel and boonie tromping tripod. It easily supports my Canon 40D camera and 70-200mm f/4L IS lens which is the heaviest package I use on it.
One drawback is that this setup is short. In order to maintain stability, I don't use the center column to raise the camera. However, I am willing to either stoop a bit or use my right angle finder in order to have a reasonably priced combination that is light enough to suit my needs.
This setup is specialized and I have a taller, sturdier and heavier tripod which I use for much of my shooting. However that tripod/head setup weighs in excess of 7 pounds which I consider too heavy for some travel and most boonie tromping.

Comments about Slik Slik Pro 330DX Tripod Black with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Quick Release Head (Height 18.5 - 63", Maximum Load 6.6 lbs):
The legs are great. The head seems a bit heavy, but I plan to get a ball head at some point for it.

Comments about Slik Slik Pro 330DX Tripod Black with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Quick Release Head (Height 18.5 - 63", Maximum Load 6.6 lbs):
I own the 700DX and it is a great tripod. Based on that I purchased the 330DX for travel and it is a lightweight and compact version of the same tripod. Very satisfied.
