Happy Halloween everyone! It is that time of year again. Time to be wowed by the amazing looks that makeup artists come up with for this spooky season! Will they be glamour? Will they be gore? Will they be beautiful (yet creepy) creatures?
In today’s look, my makeup artist Joanne Gair put together a bird-like creature with gemmed teeth. What is it exactly? Who knows! But I love the creative expression.
Today I’ll be using the Nanlite PavoTubes; these are super bright constant LED tubes with full RGB spectrum, meaning I achieve get any color hue and saturation I want! In case you missed it, Nanlite JUST came out with their brand new PavoTube X series. They have pixel mapping (so the tube can be different colors), they are even brighter than before and can work with the Nanlink App for really precise control. Honestly, they are awesome and I just got my hands on 2 this week!
For this shoot, I decided to use a combination of blue and green tubes to pick up on the colors of the feathers on the subject’s face. The tubes were also a great choice because they created unusual (and visually intriguing) catchlights in the eyes.
Camera:
I chose the Canon R5 paired with the Canon RF 70-200mm 2.8 so that I could achieve very tight detail shots with super sharp detail.
The shot was really all about the makeup, yet the lighting truly complimented the makeup and even enhanced it by increasing the dimension, interest, and overall mood.
