I purchased this printer in August 2020 and expected for the price that it would be a reliable laser printer for at least 5 years.  Initially, it was a great little workhorse. However, after replacing the ink and drum kit a couple of times over the last couple of years, the machine continues to leak ink and does not print clearly.  Further, trying to find a local dealer that actually repairs these machines is nearly impossible.  I am VERY disappointed, given the many great marks given Brother products, in general.  It makes me leery about trying another.

Lifespan Less than 36 Months - Truly Unexpected!

I'm not sure how the copier is wire less, because we couldn't make it work without booking it to our modem.  So it works but it sure is slow.

Great printer.  I have been running it in my office now for a month and has note jammed or stopped once.

The printer is ok but cannot print something that I need a couple of copies. Therefore I kept my old printer, HP 3180.

Limited funcitons

This printer is used lightly daily. I had no issues setting it up and connecting wirelessly to the computers in our house. I haven't used all the features available yet but it does regular and two-sided printing flawlessly. I've set it to 1200dpi and everything printed is crisp and clear. It prints much quicker than the HP printer I'd used for many years. I'm very happy with this printer.

A good choice at a reasonable price.

This is my third Brother Laser Printer (20 years) I have been impressed with the quality, reliability, and speed of each.  This unit with the two sided printing is the fastest to date as well as the most economical.  I have always used Brother consumables and not had any problems; they may not be the cheapest but in my experience, they are the best.

Absolutely amazing, super fast printer I was amazed by the speed, 42 pages a minute, I was looking for another laser printer similar to my Lexmark with speed and quality, I happen to get this on sale on Amazon and said why not, and another reason I went for it because the toner is cheaper than Lexmark and same capacity, Also wanted a laser printer that also handles a big paper capacity and the printer can hold 2 extra trays

Great printer, quick and easy to use.  Printing wirelessly is reliable unlike our previous HP printer which was frustrating to say the least.  Would recommend this highly to anyone looking for a reliable monochrome printer.

HL-L5200DW Laser Printer User Review - OUTSTANDING

For the price this printer is a very good buy.  It works very well on my network, prints well and duplexes easily.

Very good printer for the price

We installed the HL-L5200DW a few weeks ago, and we noticed that it caused our lights to blink or dim, when it fired up to print.  After digging deep into the issue we found out according to the spec sheet that it draws up to 1,248 watts or roughly 10 Amps, but once it starts printing it uses 620 watts or about 6 amps.  We had replaced a similar Printer which claimed to only use 579 watts or about 6 amps.  Going onto Google we found a number of people that had blown out a circuit using the same HP printer we had.  It turns out that though HP claims about 6 amps, they also recommend having the printer on a circuit with at least 10 AMP.  Several reported that it drew in excess of 1000 watts when it started up.  We solved our problem, by setting this printer up to share with the AC, that will not be used until the summer.  An occasional draw of 10 amps on a 20 amp circuit, even when the AC is running and using about 5 Amps will not cause the same problem.  In retrospect, we had similar light blinking and dimming when we had the HP.

This is a great printer, and it has a very good sleep and deep sleep mode.  However, it does draw lots of power when it starts up.  Turns out all laser printers also draw a lot of power when they start-up.  So bare that in mind when you buy a printer.  Inkjets do not use anywhere near as much power.  Brother also makes great inkjet printer.  I know, because we have one.

Excellent printer, highly recommend the same, excellent print quality and integrated itself with our wifi very seamlessly, so far still using original ink cartridge, performing much better then my previous HP

The printer is fast and connects easily but the copies are blackened with toner. I've blown off the excess several times but I the original toner cartridge in it and its bad. I have purchased 9 or 10 printers and fax machines from Brothers and they are normally good. This one is not. This is the third HL-5200 I bought in the last 12 months or so and I would not suggest any purchase this printer.

When printing several pages in a document, the printer pauses after printing 3-4 pages before continuing.  I also have to unplug it to reboot it several times during a day when printing a lot of documents.  Causes a huge waste of time.

Great printer

Purchased printer in October via Amazon, worked perfectly up until December. The fusion unit was damaged, technical support was great after many steps to fix problem it was agreed to get a new er a?different ? printer. To make A long story short I pay for a brand new printer and ended up with a refurbished unit.  Not happy at all.

Not satisfied

I have tried for months to print mixed paper size documents with not success. I have contacted brother  repeatedly and I just spent 1 hour just today. We tried everything and then I was told that there was nothing else that they could do and referred me to contact adobe. I plan to sell this machine and buy another printer from a different brand.

I’m really disappointed. Do not buy!
