We have now purchased 2 of these units so we can do multiple angles at once. This camera is FANTASTIC! Low light is very impressive (most of our shoots are indoors with ambient light) and the ability to balance on a standard handheld gimbal is wonderful! It's just small enough to fit on the Ronin S and it works flawlessly. Great color, small form factor and big options make this one pack a punch. The price is great s well. We are extremely happy with this purchase!

Absolutely beautiful 4k video!

This XF-400 joins my Canon inventory along side an XA-20. I have shot hundreds of hours of video clips with my XA-20. I really appreciate the ability of the XA-20 to deal with difficult and changing lighting conditions during long clips. Having 4K capability was pulling at me and I wanted a full frame camera so I acquired a Canon EOS 5D MKIV. Besides taking high resolution and quality stills the 5D can practically see in the dark. The 5D also records great video with one nearly fatal flaw for me. The clip length in the 5D is limited to 29 minutes and 59 seconds! For the life of me, I can’t figure out why all still cameras have this time limitation. This limitation disqualifies them for use in recording performance programs.
So then I saw the release of the Canon XF-400. The XF-400 takes the ability of the XA-20 to another level. Last night I recorded a Christmas Eve candle light service where the lighting started out bright and backlit and then dimmed to candle light. The XF-400 automatically adjusted for the changing light conditions and recorded footage that allows the viewer to immerse themselves back into the original program. 
I also find the audio mixer is easier to manage. I don’t have to go back and forth into the menus settings as much. I can set the audio floor to a low level so that there is hardly any background hiss and still get good dynamic range in the audio recording.
I am looking forward to many great hours of video recording where the XA-20 gets relegated to shooting the second angle.
Next, is upgrading my MacBook Pro, maybe to an iMac Pro. The large 4K data streams brings the MacBook Pro to its knees.

Great for varying lighting conditions

I've been filming on the XF100 for years now & was waiting to upgrade until 4K became a standard.  Filming with the XF400 has some learning curve but not as much as switching brands or to a different class of video camera under the Canon Brand.
