The dedicated 1.4x APO Teleconverter features a high performance 5 element/3 group optical design, and it is optimized for use with long telephoto and telezoom lenses.The high performance optical characteristics of these teleconverters maintain the optical performance of the compatible lenses with which they can be used.   Sigma APO Tele Converter 1.4x and 2x are dedicated Tele Converter lenses, which should be used only with the listed lenses. All of these reviews are old. The newest review is from 2013 and that's over 7 years old! The rest are 10 to 12 years old! When dealing with Tech, even a few years can make a big difference! I know that Sigma makes some good solid quality lenses in recent years, one would think getting a current review wouldn't be too difficult.

I've used this tele-converter on several of my lenses while shooting wildlife. The auto focus is good with only very minor degrading in sharpness. All in all a very good product for my needs.

DOES WHAT IT CLAIMS

Only works with Sigma lenses...neither pro or con.
With the 2X converter on my Sigma 150 - 500mm  lenses it is very hard to focus even on a rock steady tripod.
Con....auto focus doesnt work on the 2X might want to stick with the 1.4X converter.
Need to take several shots to get that great one in focus.....probably should have went with the 1.4.

Okay...might be better of with the 1.4

I have used this tele-converter for sports and for landscape photography.  I use it with my F2.8 70-200, and my F4.5 500.  I have shot a full moon with the 500, and had to use manual focus with the 2X.  The image was fantastic.

Solid Product

I use like a 2x Teleconverter for my existing Sony A700 and lens.  This 2x tele-converter will not insert between my A700 and lenses.  There are two entirely different mounts on each end.    I had to return it, since it does not fit between the A700 Body and Lense.  They telll me it is not compatible. My question: Is there a 2x tele-converter for my A700 and Lenses. Thank you. perdue71[@]

I was disappointed in the 2x conveter.

Only used a few times but works just as the specs say it should.  Construction quality is great.  Sigma makes great stuff these days.
