I use the battery grip to double the time I have to use the camera before I need to change batteries.It also allows me to vertically grip the camera without putting my hands in an awkward position. It is so much easier to change to a portrait mode position from the horizontal.

It is easier to grip the camera when the battery grip is on the camera. The only diadvantage is the added weight and bulkiness of it.

Battery Grip is Awesome

Resent I purchased the Eos 7D . Since I have a hand problem and especially on vertical capturing I purchased this Used Battery Grip which it appeared on perfect condition and only under close inspection can realize its a used item.

Perfect !

Before I bought the Canon grip, I was using a Zeikos grip.  The shutter button on the grip would decide when it wanted to work and eventually the wheel that screws into the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera broke.  This can potentially be a nightmare, as you would have to send it in to Canon for repairs.  I was lucky enough to get it off.  Also there were times where the Zeikos wasn't reading the second battery.

After the wheel on the Zeikos broke, I went ahead and ordered the Canon grip.  It feels MUCH better to use.  It performs as it should.  Every issue I had with the Zeikos is gone.  The extra weight of a grip is not an issue with me.

Worth buying the Canon model over others

I always add the true Canon grips to all my cameras.  Extra positions and controls, make hand held shooting with the camera in a vertical a pleasure.  Rock solid.

BG-E7 works for me!

Works well for vertical shots. Doesn't work with aftermarket batteries.

Without BG-E7, 7D is not complete.

Great product when you need for all day usage and video shooting mode. Even though it's bulky but still worth the money.

Works great

Just received the BG-E7 grip for my 7D. It has nice features and is easy to install. The design ergonomics seem to be thought out well. I have some concern about the added weight as I am a walk around photo enthusiast. The the 7D, the battery grip and a 24-105 mm lens, I have some substantial weight. The camera with the grip barley fits in the Lowepro pack.

The Canon BG-E7 is the best most reliable and durable grip!  I've tried several others and have had issues with the shutter button sticking, bad contacts and one wouldn't read one of the battery's.  So, my opinion would be to spend the extra money to get the real deal, it will last much longer and you wil be happier in the long run!

Excellent!

This is a great addition for your camera, I highly recommend it if you spend long periods of time on a shoot. There are some adjustments to be made with your handling of the camera as this presents a new feel for how to grip the body. That is not necessarily a drawback since you will make the adjustment quickly. This does add some bulk and weight but this results in steadier handling of the body. Shooting vertical is where this shines as your grip is in a more natural position. One thing to adjust to is hunting for the viewfinder in this position since the body is now larger. This is overcome quickly. Battery life is doubled with two batteries in the grip and you can always just load one and still shoot. All the necessary buttons are on the grip and work just you have your camera programmed (e.g. back button focus). You can also switch the grip off so when shooting horizontal you don't press any button on the grip accidentally. The build is solid as you would expect from a Canon product and complements the body quite well. The additional AA battery compartment is a plus and will get you out of a fix should you ever run out of power on the rechargeable set. One final item I find pleasing is the additional weight makes the body and lens combo hang in better balance on my neck strap which hangs across my body. I have better control over the camera and it swings much less this way too.

This a great addition for the 7D! It adds a lot of battery capacity and IMO improves the handling and feel of the camera. Also the added shutter release for portrait mode is a real value-added feature! Well worth the investment!

This is a must have if you intend to shoot vedio with the 7D.  You can shoot with only one battery or two.

This grip adds the stability and grip necessary for long lenses plus increases battery capacity to aid in shooting long sporting events.  Having a set of vertical controls helps me maintain a good hand position.

Great Grip

Solid Product from Canon.

I use a Canon EOS 7D DSLR.  Great machine.  However, its shutter button isn't in a happy place for vertical shots.  My primary reason to buy the battery grip was its built-in vertically oriented button.  It works great.  No more calisthenics to get a solid grip for vertical shots.

It also houses a second battery.  Adding the weight to the cam helps greatly in stabilizing shots.  And, a surprise!  If you hang the big cam equipped with a longer lens on your neck with a strap, the lens points down and can slide with a bang out to max focal length--not a good thing.  With the added camera bottom weight of the battery grip,that doesn't happen anymore with my 28-135mm lens.  It hangs on the neck strap pointing straight out, as it should.  Previously, I kept the lens from clanging out when hanging down by attaching a rubber band to the camera body's neck strap mount and hooking it over the edge of the sun shade.  No more rubber band!

The Canon battery grip is a quality product justifying its price, as usual with Canon.

Typically excellent Canon product

This product is helpful for anyone looking to do a lot of portrait style shooting, whether it be for cities, people, weddings, whatever.  It holds 2 batteries so you can shoot longer without needing to swap batteries.  If you are looking into this product I assume you know all that, but it doesn't feel cheap in the hands.  I know that to me, if something feels too light or cheap I won't buy it.  I was pleased with this.

My profession depends on my camera gear, in many scenarios I simply don't have time to keep changing batteries, or maybe I should say, it's nice not to.  I have found that most of the external battery grips can be cumbersome, but I don't see a way of them becoming any smaller yet so we all live with it. The Canon BG-E7 has a good solid feel, and allows you to control your shutter either in vertical or horizontal grip. Lightweight....hmmmm, lets just say its manageable. If you want to stay shooting and don't want to waste time changing batteries this is a smart add on to a great camera.

Keep shootin'

Wouldn't own a camera without a battery pack. Had one on my 20D and now on my 7D. Provides a good feel to the camera. It does add a significant amount of weight, but I am used to it from my 20D and shooting a Mamiya 645...good solid mount and feel.

I use this product daily as the main power supply for my 7D.  It really balances out the camera well, and definitely has increased the ability for me to shoot for longer periods of time.

Love It

I am using my camera for weddings, shooting with my neice. The battery grip is very easy to hold and the charge is great. I have a daughter that plays college volleyball. I cant wait to start shooting and now I dont have to worry about my camera dieing....

Looks built in, I like the extra bulk. Feels good to me. Vertical controls are nice, you can turn them off or on.

Worth the money.

This grip is on my camera (Canon 7D) at all times.  I shoot every day, but rarely charge my batteries.  The grip balances battery use between the two batteries inside, and it just goes and goes.  Having the grip on board also makes the camera more comfortable to hold, I love it.

Installation is a snap(dummy proof). The great Canon quality of this battery grip inspires confidence. Love having additional battery power. The buttons have the same feel as my 7D...a definite PLUS. But, my fav feature is how the grip acts as a balancer for large/heavy glass. Buy this you wont regret it.
