I do not use Bluetooth and I bought this to use with my portable CD player, HOWEVER...

The unit must be turned OFF in order to play my CDs. Thus I can not use the NOISE Cancelling feature AT ALL.

Is there some way around this problem, if not , i will likely return the unit to the store.

Will not play CD's with noise cancel function.

Every aspect of the headphones are amazing and are totally worth the price.

Amazing Headphones

I bought this to use with my phone and a new Bluetooth capable record player I got. I have never heard my records in such good sound quality before. The noise cancellation is also genuinely amazing, I could not hear anything around me when my music was playing. I felt I got a lot of value for how much it cost as well.

Amazing Sound and Noise Cancellation

After 3 years, the microphone no longer works during calls and I frequently have to fix a high pitched ringing issue. I have followed all fix solutions provided by sony and nothing is a permanent fix. For the price point, the product is not worth it.

Excellent sound quality, poor construction

When it worked, it was amazing. And then it didn't. I bought this around Feb/March of 2025 and within two charges I could no longer charge the headphones. I contacted support and was on the phone for hours last month and they told me that my proof of purchase was invalid despite it being an Amazon receipt.

Stopped charging after two charges

I received these headphones on December 5th two weeks ago today they stopped holding a charge. They turn red and blink or sometimes stay red for hours and never turn blue i don't know what I'm supposed to do I feel like I wasted my money

No longer charge

Thoroughly researched before purchase and very happy to report the WH-1000XM4 headphones have exceeded my highest expectations. I have impaired hearing and continue to wear my hearing aids beneath my Sony headset with no discomfort and very clear sound, even on my frequent long train journeys.

Bought them to have a solid pair of headphones instead of only earbuds and what followed was days of lying on my bed relistening to my favourite songs in a totally new light

Nice all-round headphones for the price

I purchased these a few weeks ago and I am very pleased with them.

WH-1000XM4

I bought these headphones 2 months ago. They are great for cancelling noise. When I put them on, I barely hear anything. The only problem is that I always instantly get a headache when I put them on. That's why, even though I bought them 2 months ago, I barely wore them. I think it is linked to the noise cancelling because when I put them on, I hear a white noise.

It's alright

These headphones are so good I bought my wife a pair after a week of best sound and best noise cancelling I have ever had the joy to put on my ears.

Best noise cancelling headphones

The product had several issues when I connected it to my smart monitor. As soon as I connected the headset to my Smart Monitor, it started making a flickering noise, and then the headset powered off. After a few attempts, I couldn't get it to stay on-it kept shutting down automatically. I had to power it off and on multiple times just to get it to work. Clearly, there was a bug, which led me to return the product and purchase from another brand.

Disappointed and I had to return it

Upgrade from the 910s really happy great birthday present

I used the headphones for a couple of days and faced a few issues that prevented me from using them conveniently, so I am returning them.

First, the positives:
- The sound quality is good (not outstanding but on par with competitors).
- They are comfortable, though a bit tight - you can get a headache after using them for a couple of hours.
- The mobile app has a pretty good design and is easy to use.

So, in general, if not for the issues I describe below, this would be a really good product that I would like to continue using.

Now, the negatives:
- Bluetooth connectivity is not stable - sometimes the headphones disconnect from source devices (they can also randomly disconnect and reconnect). This happened to me several times a day, which has never occurred with other ANC headphones I have used over the last eight years.
- Sometimes the headphones just turn off on their own (Automatic Power Off is disabled).
- Latency - most of the time it is okay, and you will not really notice it, but occasionally it spikes to nearly 2 seconds, which makes the headphones basically unusable, especially for watching videos. It seems to fix itself by turning the headphones off and on again, but such a user experience is really inconvenient.
- (The biggest issue) Pitch drift, which happened several times - at some point, the headphones start lowering the pitch of the audio (everything sounds a couple of steps lower, as if a pitch shifter effect is applied in real time). This also seems to fix after turning the headphones off and on (just reconnecting to the source device doesn't help), but I personally find this completely unacceptable.

I did some research online before returning the headphones, hoping there might be ways to fix these issues, but unfortunately that's not the case. Other people complain about similar problems, and there is no workaround except turning them off and on or resetting them. It is quite sad, because as I mentioned, I would like to keep using them, but these issues are a clear deal-breaker for me.

PS I believe the hardware is probably solid, but the buggy software/firmware makes the headphones perform very poorly (I was using the latest available version, 2.9.0).

Unreliable performance, returning after short use

The only thing I will complain about is my headphones. Will stop playing music when I get a notification.

Bluetooth sucks

The audio quality on these headphones dwarfs anything I've had before, the noise cancelling is exceptional - to the point that I often have to turn it off when I need to listen out for things.

It fit my ears/head really well and I find it very comfortable - definitely worth the money

HAD IT FOR 6 MONTHS - IT ONLY CONNECTS TO MY XPERIA PHONE IF I USE THE JACK PLUG LEAD.

These brilliant headphones were a present from our children, brilliant sound quality, really enjoy using these when I am in the Dialysis Clinic watching NetFlix films, you feel as though you are in the film and in your own world.

Comfortable and easy to use

Only started to use them but so far very good!!!!!

No outside noise

Had these for about 2 months, I use them in the gym and on walks. Now, when they work, the sound quality is good, as is the noise cancelling. 

Unfortunately, one of the speakers (right side) has broken and now cant crackles constantly to the point they're unusable. 

For the price this shouldn't be happening within 2 months of use. I'm now almost £200 down with nothing to show

Already stopped working
