One of the worst printers ever

I buy printers for my office. We go through them fairly frequently. This is one of the worst ones that I have every bought. It is worse than the home ones. The save energy feature is stupid. It goes to sleep and doesn't wake up. Have to manually wake it up. The processing speed is incredibly slow. How can this be considered a commercial printer. Setup was easy but who cares if it doesn't print.

Quit with the messages and print!

Been working with this for a year but when the ink gets low it stops printing. Then you end up printing multiple documents. I just replaced a cartridge and it printed out a jet black "cleaning page" and still won't let me print. The pop ups to order more ink does not know I have cartridges in the supply cabinet. If you want a printer that does not require IT help, don't get this.

Need to stay on the old and reliable

Our company has used the P2035 model for years, it was discolored, dusty, loud, but it held true. We purchased an M401 and have regretted it ever since. One main job is that we printed out labels on the P2035 and although the new printer is sleek, smaller, and quieter, we cannot print one label whatsoever. Everything is pushed to the left, and left off the label. Margins are set exactly right, down to the hundredth of an inch. Yet we couldn't get the labels to print out correctly. Hours wasted. Now shopping for our old model once again. Take note kids, just because something is new, doesn't mean that it's better.

Has network issues

I appreciate that HP allows these reviews. With that I have to be honest and note that these new 'energy saver' printers are more trouble than they are worth. When the printer goes to 'sleep' it will half the time not 'wake' when you send a print job in a wifi office network. You have to manually 'wake' and or restart the printer half the time. There is no 'energy saver' in that method if you have to always be hands on with the printer! HP should install a 'frustration saver' and allow us to completely disable the 'energy saver' modes!

Good Home Office Printer

Purchased this printer on Clearance Sale at Staples as it is being discontinued. I need a good color laser for proposals and other business quality prints. So far, I'm really happy with it. The printer is sturdy and quite. Unlike the other reviews I read on the HP website, I haven't had any issues with noises at all. I think the software side is really good also, what I am used to expecting from HP so props on how easy it is to setup. I'm using the hard wire network and had no problems connecting, seamless. Great deal printer especially now.

I constantly have to re-download drivers

The printer stops working all the time and disconnects when plugged directly into the computer. Turning the printer off doesn't help. I've had the printer for about 2 years and have to uninstall and reinstall the driver software about 20 times since.

Disappointed

I've been using a 1320 for years in the office so I was really excited about getting this new check printer....boo. I've installed and uninstalled and wasted more of my boss's money than if I'd purchased a bigger, color model. This printer locks up after every other job. I cannot delete the jobs from my que. I'm going to return it and bribe the new girl for my old printer.

NOT HELPFUL

This is a poor printer for the cost of $400. It defaults on "photo" copy instead of a text copy. It will not allow you to change this setting unless you want to do it EVERY TIME you make a copy on the scanner. I think this is because it uses more ink on the photo copy, so they make more money on the ink. ALSO, this $400!!! printer does NOT fit an entire ream of paper. What is the point of a printer like that? It is such a nuisance! I use this printer all day and I can say that from an efficiency standpoint, it is extremely unhelpful.

HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401

We have 7 printers in our office. All of them are HP, but only two are the LaserJet Pro 400 M 401's. They are superior in speed, easy to use and reliable. We intend on replacing all of our older printers with the Pro 400 M401's in the near future.

No Good

This printer eats up ink, makes weird noises when it wants to. Not a good printer at all

Good print quality, poor overall performance

I am a little disappointed in this model of HP printers. I have always had the best of luck with HP. This printer however while the quality of the print is excellent it prints very slow. Another item is the way it is constantly going into maintenance/cleaning mode in the middle of a print job. Making it even slower. Most HP printers have an option to change the frequency of the maintenance/cleaning cycle this one doesn't So while I recommend this printer I would only recommend it to people who are not in a hurry to see the finished product.

Another Great HP product

My company has several of these units with which we have had zero issues over the last 18 months. This is an industrial site with a mix of offices and temporary buildings and lots of moisture, dust and contamination. The copy quality stays good even under the worse conditions in the plant. The set up using our AD domain and Microsoft Exchange server for scan-to-email and shared folders on our file server was a no brainer. The units get heavy print and scan usage and don't jam like other printers I have had experience with. I definitely recommend this product to everyone

No Wireless

This printer was disappointing. It does not have wireless capabilities. It must be either directly wired (with a cable) to the internet or directly wired to your computer / device. I realize many businesses hardwire printers, but it seems surprising that in this age it doesn't even come with the option.

Great value for the price

This is a very good printer -- easy to set up, excellent print quality. Much quieter than other laser printers I've used. My only complaint is the durability. My first printer gave out after about 2 years, it started printing with a solid yellow background. Very pretty, but really used up the toner cartridge. HP tech support was of no help whatsoever. I did find a local shop that was able to diagnose the problem. Unfortunately, it was more cost effective to replace than repair, so I'm now on printer #2. Still, a great value for the money.

A FINE LASER PRINTER

I WOULD SUGGEST ADDING MORE MEMORY SINCE IT TAKES SOME TIME TO PROCESS WITH THE STANDARD MEMORY AN UPGRADE WILL BE NECESSARY FOR FASTER PROCESSING AND PRINTING

Great Printer for the Money

Bought four of these printers for our office and they have done a great job. Easy to set up and simple enough for my fellow employees to use. It doesn't matter if it's letters, envelopes, label's or checks, these printers have worked flawlessly right out of the box. They work so well I'm thinking of buying one for my home office.

Noisy printing

The printer makes a loud noise during printing. I checked with someone locally and they said it was just the sound of the printer laser head. And nothing that could be done. Other than that, great printer.

The copy function did not work properly

The paper feed pulled the paper through at an angle. Therefore, all copies had an angled grey line at the bottom of the page. The adjustments available to the customer did not correct the problem. A lengthy telephone call with customer and technical service did not solve the problem. I boxed up the printer and mailed it back, greatly disappointed. I have had HP printer/copiers since 1989 when I opened my office. I want to buy the best and will spend more for a higher end HP printer. HP should reinvest in its expensive printers to make sure the device can withstand shipping from an online store and still work right out of the box. The feature that I greatly dislike is the touch pad. Buttons are much easier to see and use, particularly when you are doing a lot of work. Consider designing the bigger copiers with buttons. I am reluctant to buy a new copier from HP unless I can test it in a store. The last HP copier I bought, the laserjet 3050 stopped working properly after 6 months and kept flashing an error message "scan failed". That was $500 down the drain. The machine was designed not to be fixable. HP has a major problem with its nonfixable printers. My original laserject 4 worked flawlessly for 10 years. So, you've got a loyal customer who has now had 2 in a row negative product experiences. What is your solution?

Reliable machine with great features

I have a home office. This printer will do everything. I have a connected server. I can scan to a folder, fax, print, you name it. Set up has been a no-brainer. I cannot speak to reliability yet since I have only had this for 6 months.

Works as expected. No issues.

I have had this printer and used almost all its features. It all works as expected and I have not had any issues thus far. Very happy with my purchase.

Not Real Happy

Not real happy with the copier. If, and all printers, do eventually have a paper jam. It appears that I will have to take apart much of the copier if that occurs. The toner is expensive and does not last as long as my old hp printer did. When I want it to copy, the first copy always comes out blank until I do it again and it realizes that the copy/copies I want is sitting on the top. My old hp that I had for about a year broke in the middle of tax season so I had no time to pick and choose. Oh for the good old days. I had a copier for 15 yes 15 years with absolutely no problems until it eventually wore itself out.

Nice Color Quality

Nice color printer. Using for marketing pieces in a small law firm. I only wish the set-up to print to different trays was a little more user friendly. Definitely not the best for a secretary or someone needing to do a lot of letters.

Seems like a winner

I have been using the HP451dw for several months now and have had very good luck with it. I would like to have a better driver for use with my old Win XP computer but my new Win 8.1 works perfectly. My printing needs are rather basic with only a small amount of picture printing. Anyway, so far I like this printer.

Problem with number 2

I am having trouble with this printer. It says it is low on memory when I want to print UPS tickets or plane tickets. Sometimes I have to save to PDF to get it to work right. I have had no help from HP forums on line. Otherwise it's a great pritner.

Excellent value

I have had faster printers but this is fine for a small office. Silent which my last printer was not. Easy to install. I am very glad I purchased this printer. I have had zillions in the last 30 years.

Excellent printer

This printer is great. I have used ink jets and they break all the time. Laser jet is the way to go Especially if you run your own business.
