Questions & Answers

Shopper : What is the rated load when the Sirui P-424 monopod is fully extended? That info is apparently on the box label, but I can't find it elsewhere. The website shows the fully-collapsed load rating.MICHAEL A W : The maximum load capacity is 15kg or 33lbs.
Matthew B : does the lock click when you go to tighten it like on the sirui p-326?Stephen H : I just received this monopod and experimented with it. I felt no click when I tightened the lock rings. They seem very secure. I leaned my 180# weight on it and there was no flex or slippage. It's possible that slippage will develop with use. The monopod is rated at a 33 pound capacity. I would not consider it 'light duty' as a previous answer stated.STEVEN C : Yes, but this is a light duty rig. If one puts their weight onto it, it will slowly slide down.

Stout and well worth the money

I am a sports photographer who shoots mainly football for the local university. I have owned three previous monopods, over the last eight years. The first two, despite being carbon fiber, were so light weight that they snapped in two every time a player went too far out of bounds and into photographers row. With my third one, the bushings in the joints worn out and would no longer lock in place. With this Siruri P424, it might seem a little fat in diameter, however, this is what you need on a sports side line. I use this with a Nikon D4 and a 300 mm f/2.8 lens. The total weight of the camera and lens is 16 pounds, This new monopod easily handles the weight and more. Especially when you consider how many times in a game that I sling it over my shoulder and hastily go down a sideline for my next shot. I recently took this on a wild life shoot in the Grand Tetons. It really handle the weight of my big lenses. Well worth the money and I would have saved a lot if I would have bought this one in the first place.

Great product...

Very sturdy and well make. I own other Sirui products and there is no compromise with any of these products.

Stout Stick

This is a really robust monopod. Between the oversize tubes, the secure lock rings, and the inherent stiffness of the carbon fiber, it feels like it will hold at least the advertised weight. I wanted a monopod that would not only support my Canon 7D/500mm F4 IS combination, but also my 180 pound weight, so I could lean on it as a walking stick in picking my way over uneven trails and through streams in pursuit of wildlife quarry. I feel quite confident that this monopod will be up to the task. A nice bonus is the zippered nylon carrying bag that came with it that was designed to accommodate the monopod with a typical head attached.

Great value in a CF Monopod!

It is a pleasure to use this CF Monopod primarily for my nature and wildlife shoots. It is much lighter than my old workhorse, aluminum Manfrotto Mono (a solid and durable but heavy unit). Everything I own has snap locks and I thought the twist locks would be difficult but, to my surprise they were a breeze. This P424 was also about half the price I paid for the Manny several years ago. Time and use will tell the durability story, otherwise, I am very satisfied and would recommend the P434 to anyone.
