Questions & Answers

PAUL E : does it have VR?HENRY K : It does not have VRMARK L : No. Not. Needed.JAMES W : No, this lens does not have VR, nor does it need it. VR is only recommended for and is usually only available on longer lenses (maybe 70 mm or greater) to minimize the effect of camera movement when shooting under specific conditions, and typically should be used sparingly. There are some good online videos covering this subject. That being said, this is a terrific lens, at a good price price. I use it professionally for architectural and landscape photographs, and my only regret is that I waited too long before getting it.CARLOS R : No, It does not but with a wide angle lens you do not need it.
Barbara G : I have a Nikon 7200. Will this lens work for my camera?ANDREW H : Yes; I use it on the same model.MARK L : YesMARK L : YesROLF H : yes, it's designed for use on Nikon DX cameras. I use it on my D7000 and it will work nicely on your D7200 too.GEORGE S O : Absolutely, Barbara. It will work very well on your camera. You won't believe how wide 11mm is until you look through your viewfinder!RONALD M : Good afternoon Barbara. I have this lens and have used it with my D3200 and my D7100. It is a fantastic lens. My got ultra wide lens. The DX II has and internal focus motor as well as a manual clutch so you can manually override or manual only focus. I am still very happy with this lens. RPAUL R : Yes, it will.LEROY W : Absolutely! The way to tell is: Your camera takes "DX" lenses and any "DX lens will fit and operate the Autofocus, Image Stabilization and Flash readout. So Purchase any lens that sports the "DX" specification. I purchased this lens for my Nikon 7100 and it works perfectly. I can also use it on my Fuji body and my Nikon D90 body. The DX lenses are a "standard" that crosses many manufacturers of camera body.BOBBBY H : I use this lens on a nikon 7100. One of my favorites for landscape, yes it will work on your 7200.DINESHKUMAR M : Yes. I have Nikon 7000 and it works great!MARK L : YesCHEYON S : Yes it willGEORGE P : Yes it will. Great lens.
MARTHA B : Will this lens work well with my Nikon D610?ROLF H : As it's a DX lens, it will only produce pleasing results in DX cropped mode on a D610. It should however perfectly mount on the D610. If you don't want to invest into the really good Nikkor 2.8/12-24, you could choose the Nikkor 3.5-4.5/18-35 or Tokina, Sigma and Tamron wideangle lenses that are designed for FX cameras.CHRISTIAN B : As far as I know the d610 is a full format camera and this lens is for the 1.5 factor cameras like the d7200, etc.GEORGE S O : Not when your D610 is in FX mode, Your corners will be darkened/clipped. Forgive me, but I can't remember the photographic term right now. If you can put the D610 in DX mode, then you can use it. It's a great lens. Tokina does make an FX model of a very similar lens.RONALD M : Hi there I have used this lens on a D800 and it vignetted heavily at 11-13 and was good from 14 to 16 with a small amount of vignetting. I would suggest you get a full frame lens instead. 14-24. 16-35 or some other wide angle prime 20 f1.8 G or 20 f2.8D. Unless you have a crop camera this lens is a compromise for the D610. I like it very much as Nikon does not make a crop lens that fits this angle of view. Great lens for crops but limited for full frame. Good luck. RPAUL R : This lens works well with a DX format camera. Full Frame users would be better off looking at lenses designed for that format unless you intend to use the DX cropping factor.CHEYON S : I have the d610 and I wouldn't use this lens for that. At 11mm u can see the internals of the lens which means a black circle around the edge. At 16mm you can no longer see the back ring BUT the edges r noticeably blurry. It might work for video. Hope that helpsGEORGE P : This lens will work with your camera but it is a crop sensor lens so it will not take advantage of the full width of your full frame sensor.

Great Wide Angle Lens

I loved this lens, but when I upgraded to a full frame I had to sell it. This lens did some amazing astro shots, and as a architecture and landscapes lens it worked fantastic.

Great lens for price

This lens works very well at an affordable price. The fixed aperture is great for a shallow depth of field, even at a wider angle. It is a little heavy at 1.2 pounds, but is still small enough to travel with. My main complaint is that I can't use the manual focus ring in autofocus mode, I have to choose one or the other.

Amazing lens, great quality and value!

I got this lens because the price dropped and I didn't have anything wider than the kit zoom lens for my Nikon D3400. I am even more excited than I expected, on my cropped sensor, the difference is very distinctive, the constant 2.8 aperture is great and also the lens is of very good overall quality (performance, image and build quality). I believe it's great value. Auto focus is very good and fast in my hobbyist experience, and much more silent than my Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX. One thing I must note is that it's by far the heaviest of my lenses. I can only compare it to the kit 75-300 lens, it's not that long and doesn't extend that much, but it's definitely larger in diameter and heavier, overall more bulky. Also, I would probably prefer a manual focus switch rather than the ring mechanism, but it still works perfectly fine, maybe I just need to get used to it. Great value for money, definitely recommended!

Perfect lens for real estate photography

Build quality is great for this price point and photos, at least on a cropped sensor, have minimal distortion.

Very good lens

I purchased this lens for astro photography and it has performed very well. I have enjoyed learning to frame photos to best use of the wide angle. I found I could have done as well with a fixed focus at 11mm. The 2.8 f stop is great for Milky Way shots. I was able to get a 180° sky show in only 5 exposures.

This lens is surprisingly fine

This lens is surprisingly fine.Sharp and as you stop down to about f8 to f11 edge sharpness and focus is very good, even excellent. The zoom range is not so great to create distortion at all focal lengths. I also really llike the depth of field scale and the manual or auto focus options. It has a lot of bang for the buck

Great for landscape photos

I'm an amateur photographer with minimal experience, testing the waters. I find this lens to be great for photography while hiking, although it is a bit heavy. It takes good photos but also tends to overexpose everything. Obviously there are ways to deal with that, so it's not a deal breaker. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Love It

I took this lens and a rented Nikon 10 to 24 mm to Sedona Arizona. Although the extra range of the Nikon was sometimes more convenient, it was not worth the extra cost. Image quality and build quality was comparable on both lenses. I am very happy with this lens and Adorama’s price made it too good to pass up. This is a great addition to my gear bag and I would recommend this lens to anyone looking for a great white angle for landscape photography. Also, the 2.8 makes it great for indoor shoots with low lighting.

Perfect for home interiors and creative landscape

This lens turned out to be exactly what I needed to photograph interiors. It works perfectly with my aging but reliable Nikon D7000.The f2.8 aperture is fantastic when you need it. The build quality of this Tokina is superior to budget Nikon offerings.Best of all this lens is VERY sharp. So there is no compromise with image quality. It takes a while to get used to pulling the focus ring down and out for manual focus-and remembering to push it back Up for autofocus. But after using this lens for a couple weeks it's now second nature.Whatever APS camera platform you're using this lens is impressive and perfect on your budget. I truly wish I had bought this lens a year ago!

Very nice

Very nice, built like a tank. I usually buy Nikon lenses but with all the good reviews for the Tokina and the $ compared to the Nikon lens I couldn't justify the extra $. It is very sharp at all zoom levels. The build quality is evident as soon as you pick it up. I'm glad I chose Tokina for this particular lens.

So far, liking lens

This lens is heavier than I’ll used to, but I can put up with that. So far, I’m liking it. I got it for night photography, which I have yet to try. The lens hood was hard to take off, there’s a trick. Go to YouTube to check out how.

Wide Lens for C100

Bought it for a wider option on my C100 and it seems to do the job. Very little distortion. The only thing I could ask for is FF comparability and IS, but the best part of this was the price, which wouldn’t happen with Thise features. Solid, inexpensive lens.

Tokina Blows Out Nikon!

By Big J.

I was a pure Nikon professional for 25 years. Systems used: F3, F5, D-200, D-300. In retirement I presently have the D-300 w/17-55 DX F2.8 and 70-200 DX F2.8 VR. Now looking for a super wide I was about to purchase a Nikkor 12-24 mm F4 DX. In fact I had ordered the lens on the web. The same day I saw the latest test results on the Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 ATX Pro. I called my web dealer back to cancel the Nikon order and could find only one ATX Pro DX lens locally. After making calls around t...

Great Lens!

By Derek H.

Very useful ultra-wide on Digital. Makes a good companion to your 18-200mm VR, should be the only two lenses you need the majority of the time. I use it on my D80 and get great results. The zoom range is limited, but a step forward or back will usually get you the framing you want, and the f/2.8 aperature is great. Even at f/2.8 the depth of field seems very good, stopped down I'm sure it's fantastic (haven't really used it on a tripod yet). The lens is a bit heavy, but it seems very sol...
