KIAN S : Is it supposed to come with a battery? Just got one, seems to have a space in the packing for one, no battery.
DANIEL B : Can you use this monitor off camera as a focus pulling monitor?ARMANDO M : Yes it will act as just a monitor too.ARMANDO M : Yes you could use it off camera. It will act as just a monitor or recorder when you need it.RONALD W : Yes and no. As long as you do not require critical focus that begs for magnification, it should work fine. I should add that I recently discovered that it will not communicate over HDMI with my Canon C300 Mk III, although it will communicate via SDI. My Atomos Ninja V+ communicates perfectly with either HDMI or SDI via its SDI adapter, so you might want to check camera compatibility if you plan on using HDMI.SHERWIN L : Yes you can, just need to feed it the signal somehow. It’s got all the focus tools typically found in other monitors like peaking and zoom, in addition to a number of other tools.
Mark T : Can I record Pro res on the Sony A7Siii? and will I be able to edit in Adobe Premiere or will I need to use Davinci?SHERWIN L : Yes, you can record in ProRes and you can edit in either PPro or Resolve. Both programs will read ProRes files.Lawrence T : You can record ProRes from any source and edit in whatever can edit ProRes. ????????

Favorite Monitor

Favorite monitor. Came from the bmpcc 6k pro and loved the monitor. Now shooting on red. Couldn't be happier to still have a bm display.

Tiny Swiss Army Knife

This little screen is great. It does a little bit of everything. Main reason I bought it was for a testing monitor. It has both SDI and HDMI so its all a video like me could need. I am able to import my own test patterns as well to be able to output to my inputs. With the new update I'm also able to use it as a webcam input which is great with those clients with the last minute addition. As works as a backup recorder or even a main. Works wonders if you need all the fine details of your camera if you are shooting professionally. If I were to pick two things I dislike about this is that it does have a mini-BNC connector so you need to buy an extra cable and how thick it is, espcially when you buy batteries for it. Other than those two small things that one can overlook, I highly recommend this if you are looking for an all in video device that can save you out of many binds out in the field.

An excellent tool

Great accessory, not just for monitoring and recording but also as a USB-C video interface. Even for a camera that has built-in UVC (video-over-USB) support, Blackmagic's implementation works better with MacOS (lower latency than Sigma's camera-native implementation). - I do slightly wish I'd gotten the smaller one for easier gimbal mounting. - It would be nice if the built-in zoom went more than 2x.

Best I?ve Seen!

Wow! I have been an Atomos user for years. This monitor/recorder puts Atomos to shame! Great job Blackmagic!! I switched because of Blackmagic Raw via Nikon Z cameras.

Excellent monitor/recorder

Excellent addition to my Panasonic S1h. The large and bright screen makes recording in or outdoors a pleasure, and the ability to chose between SD cards or an external SSD is appreciated. It's metal housing suggests ruggedness and durability. It does, however, burn through batteries, and I would suggest using the largest NPF 'L' batteries available when not tethered to the AC adapter.

Not clear enough densities. I want to have 4K monitor-recorder in the future.

Useful for monitoring/recording ATEM Mini

Very solid piece of gear! Although we don’t use the advanced features yet such as the scopes they look handy in a high professional environment. And haven’t gone mobile with batteries to see how it does then. We use it to record the output of an ATEM Mini (church AV booth) and then pass the video along via the output to go to our overflow hall. This was more ideal than recording to OBS which kept having audio drift issues and I needed to be able to see the video and hear the audio. I look forward to working with it mobile. We bought it before the 3G version came out. The only reason for I didn’t rate 5 starts is it would be nice to choose what goes where on the display. After pressing record it’s a good idea that you can swipe the transport down so it’s hidden and the stop button doesn’t get bumped accidentally, only problem is that the audio meter goes away with it. And yet you’re stuck with seeing the codec and video format, something that won’t change often once it’s set.
