BONNIE R : Does this need to be used with a light box to preview 35mm slides? ThanksDALE E. R : If you are you are viewing slides or negatives they need light from the back side just as if you were projecting the slides or enlarging the negatives. A light box is one way to do it. DaleDAVID W : Bonnie, A light box is not absolutely necessary, but you have to get light behind the slide in order to view it. For a few slides, you can just hold the loupe and slide up to a window or light. For serious previewing, I recommend a slide sorter or light box.ANDREW R : A light box is not necessarily required, however viewing transparencies or negatives without one may be difficult.

works like a charm

I use this loupe for fine focusing on large format view cameras. It works quite well and fits nicely under the focusing hood. Great product for the price

It is worth it, and very helpful

The loop was recomended for me to use. The 10x Close-up Viewing Loupe was helpful. It helpful to see the defects on negatives ect...

Gets the job done

I bought this item to help me fine focus on the ground glass of my view camera and it does the job quite well. I also use it to read my 35mm negatives. It's small enough that I can carry it around in my pocket, yet so inexpensive that I won't freak out if I broke or lost it.

Inexspensive but gets the job done.

I have had this product for roughly two years, and it is still working just fine. It is a little easy to scratch the lense, because it is mostly contructed of plastic, but if you are careful with it you shouldn't have any problems.
