Questions & Answers

Shopper : I have a 220ex Speedlite and a Canon T1i. Will this work with my flash and camera? Also, is there a way to attach this to a tripod?KAREN E : I'm the OP. Bought it and it doesn't fit the 220ex flash.IVAN V : This should work for you. I used it for my 420EX Canon Speedlight on a Canon 50D and it works great. For information or validation go to Canon's website below: usa.canon under support/professional/professional_cameras/flashes and searech for speedlite_220ex. The off-shoe flash cord I bought is equivalent to the canon Off-Camera Shoe Cord OC-E3. For yours it is the same. Hope this helps.JESSE M : I am not a 100% sure about the flash part. However, I do know that you can attach the other end to a tripod. Be careful though, it is coiled and will pull it over if you do not weigh it down... Been there done that.JOSEPH F : I have not used it. Sorry.C DOUGLAS J : It will work with any Canon Camera that has a hot shoe. There is know reason you would need to attach it to a tripod because it recoils completely with the coil wire. I hope this answered your questions.
Shopper : I'm looking for Flash cord for my Canon 1DS MII, so I consider with Adorama Off-Camera eTTL2 Coiled Flash Cord (extends to 3') for All Canon EOS Cameras - Heavy Duty Version. My question is: Does It work with my camera and 580EX II? Thank youROGER M : It should. I use mine with a 5D Mark III and a 430.ANDREW R : Yes, this unit should work with the 580EX II.
VANESSA L : I purchased the canon 320ex speedlite deluxe kit. I have tried to mount the flash on the ttl cord but it doesn't fit the shoe mount of the cord. also, the camera tells me that is incompatible (canon eos rebel t3 1100d). What am I suppose to do or am I doing something wrong?KEN J : I have a Canon T2I, which should be very similar to your T3, but the flash set up plugs together fine on my system. There must be some type of small difference.THOMAS R : I use this item on my t3i without much trouble. Something to watch for is that it is full seated and not backwards. You have to push the flash really hard on mine to fully seat it. Also, the part that mounts to the camera shoe can be install backwards. Other than that, it works just as advertised and very well. Good luck.RUSS S : I have successfully used the TTL off camera cord with the Speedlite 430EXII, not the 320EXPAMELA H : I have used the cord on a Rebel T1i with a Sigma flash with no issues. I recently upgraded to the 60D and again, no issues. You may need an adapter. If you are able, take the camera, flash and cord to Adorama store - they are fantastic at helping resolve issues.

Works as advertised

I installed it with a new bracket for my 6D, and it worked as advertised. I think if protected from abuse, it should work with light use, by amateur photographers.

Flash Shoe doesn't fit

Item is not as it appears in photo. There is a flash shoe at the end of the cord and one on top of bracket that fits into the hotshoe on the camera. The flash shoe at the end of the cord doesn't fit my flash Canon 220EX, but the other ones does.

Off-Camera eTTL2 Coiled Flash Cord

It is exactly what I needed so that I could learn to use the flash off the camera.

It's ok but....

It's ok but tilt capability should be more stable. or maybe have an option so it doesnt tilt. I didnt find another product made of metal sturdy enough as this one, that's why I chose it. but I dont like the 'tilt feature'. I would have prefer it to be in a fix position. other than that it works ok!

Identical to the Canon OC-E3

First, I believe the newest version of this product is slightly different than what is pictured. For example, it does not have a thumb screw to tighten it on the camera's hotshoe (as pictured). Instead, the new model has a locking slide mechanism (identical to the OC-E3). The corners on both the camera end and the flash end are rounded (identical to the OC-E3). The flash end also has a slide to slip into a hotshoe (identical to the OC-E3). The diameter of the cable matches the OC-E3. Other than the Adorama sticker (that can easily be removed) it seems like a complete copy of the OC-E3 at about 30% of the cost. I think some of the negative comments I've read are based on the previous model and do not reflect the newest version. My initial impression is that I'm very pleased with the build quality. It seems to work fine with the ETTL of my Canon 580 flash. I admit, I'm fairly hard on my equipment and using this cable on a flip handle puts a lot of stress on the mounts. I've had some models that are absolute junk. Even the Canon versions seem to break every few months but based on the price, I can buy 3 or 4 of these.

Good bracket

I had considered buying this bracket, but because of the somewhat negative reviews, had not. While came with the package deal, it's not a bad bracket, especially considering the price. Versatile, and not too bulky.

Works as expected.

Used to off-center the flash to reduce red-eye in candid shots, also reduces red-eye on athletes when camera to subject distance is extensive.

No need to spend extra money

This is the second Canon Flash sync Cord I replaced. Canon has a big problem with the construction of it's flash sync Cords. This time I took a chance and bought an aftermarket one from Adorama. So far, it is working fine and there is no need to spend 80% more for canon sync Cords. I hope Canon reads this.

Shoe size too small!

The unit I received was defective; although the metal did not appear to be bent, there was no way a flash could fit the shoe. Glad for Adorama's easy return policy.

Didn't Work

Couldn't figure out why I got horribly overexposed pictures with this on either my T2i or T4i. Doesn't have a necessary connection. Zoom doesn't read, flashes open. I stopped using manual flash back in the 60s.

2 cords failed in less tan 2 days

Very bad construction, in less than two days I went through two cords under normal use. The flash shoe is held in place by four flimsy screws and the plate easily is pulled easily off from the screws. The Canon extension cord is much more secure and durable.

Coiled Flash Cord Missing Shoe Base

The cord comes with a female screw mount base on the bottom of the hotshoe that connects to the flash. There needs to be a shoe mount on the bottom as well as the top to work with the L bracket that I purchased along with it.

It sounded good, but I want wireless

I thought I would hold my 580EX in my left hand and my 5D in my right hand with this cable between them. That turned out to feel somewhat like I was fighting with this cord all the time. It worked but I think I'll get a wireless transmitter next time.

saves me $$$ but clumsy!

This is a pain to use, but I didnt want to spend the $$ for wireless flash. I actually split the cord in two and extended it with a cat5e cable. now it adds alot of bulk to my bag, but I like the extra reach.

Off camera ettl cord

Good for portraiture, to avoid harsh shadows from flash directly above lens.

Wouldn't buy it but use it a lot.

I got this product in a package with my flash that I bought so I didn't really thing much about it. However, whenever I need to use my flash off-camera, this comes in handy. There are problems, however. The cord is very short and stretchy so when I need to use this it usually takes two people. I would definitely choose a different cord if I was buying one by itself but when I need to use off-camera flash, this is a necessity.

Get an angle on flash photography

Adds light from all angles. Say good bye to red eyes. My dog and cat are not frightened by the flash. Nice little toy to compliment my speedlight.

Didn't Work

Bought this product and was dissapointed because it didn't work. I either got full power flash or no flash. Never a TTL regulated flash. Exchanged it for the Canon product that works fine.

A Little Awkward

This chord attaches to the shoe mount in such a way that the chord hangs over the front of the camera and interfers with the shots. It is too long, also.

Quite useful but short

By SPP

The cable makes off-camera flash quite easy. My only complaint is that the cable is too short. It could be at least 36" or more to make it more useful

Great Value-Works Great

By DAVID R.

This cord is well made and works perfectly. At less than half the price of Canon's own cord (probably the same unit anyway), it's a steal.

These are the perfect answer to using a dedicated flash unit off of the camera and yet retain all of the dedicated features of the flash.

These heavy duty TTL cords are designed to fit Canon cameras that use dedicated flash units. They feature a molded shoe on one end that slides onto the camera hot show and locks to prevent accidental dislodging of the shoe. A second shoe mounts onto a flash bracket or light stand via either a standard foot with lock or a 1/4-20 thread. The top of the shoe accepts the flash unit. A heavy duty 3 foot coiled cord connects the shoes. Does not have an accessory shoe, and you need to remove theshoe from the bracket and screw it into the 1/4x20 socket. You can purchase SB30oc29 to prevent twisting.
