This is a fairly nice tripod for the price. BUT ... some of the lever locks rotate on the leg. Tightening the screw didn't fix this, but it did make the lever too tight. I returned the tripod for a second one, but it had the same problem. Another thing to keep in mind is that the MTL series tripods DO NOT include the tripod case and strap like the MT series. The only real difference between the MT and MTL series is that the MTL has lever locks. I ended up returning this tripod and getting an MT 8340 instead. The 8340 is more expensive, but it's more versatile, comes with a very nice padded case and strap as well as the short center column. IMNSHO, the MT series is a better value than the MTL.

The Giottos MTL 9240B 4-Section Compact Aluminum Tripod features flip lever leg lock, just lift lever to unlock, push lever to lock. It lets you extend or shorten a leg without taking your eyes off your subject. It also features quick release for 3 leg spread angles which allows setting each leg at different positions individually.
