Q&A

Questions & Answers

STEPHEN S : Will this HoodLoupe work with my Nikon CoolPix S9300? This camera has a screen that is approximately 3.2" diagonally, and 2-?" x 2". No being an SLR camera the placement of the Tripod mount may be an issue - it is off center to the right and closer to the rear edge of the camera than you would find on a DSLR.PAUL J : I use it on my Canon Mark 3 and 5DS. I normally don't attach it but wear it around my neck to view the screen in bright light. I am sure sure the bungee strap that is made for it would not fit your camera. It is also inconvenient to use if someone else is viewing your shots as it has diopter that focuses for your eyes. Maybe they make a version for you type camera. It is nicely made and has great optics.YASSER H : I use it on canonGLENN P : You should be fine.MICHAEL H : Since the Hoodman product sits flush on the LCD screen, the tripod mount should not be an issue. I use mine all the time. Both indoors and out. I've a DLSR, but the loupe sits on the screen when I'm using it. Good luck.ROLAND P : The Hoodman just sits against your rear screen held there by your hand's pressure. You should match the size of the Hoodman to your LCD screen but it's not necessary. Larger is better. Too small and you won't be able to see all of what's on your screen. I can't imagine that the tripod mount location should have any effect on the use of the Hoodman Loupe device.
Margie H : Is it compatible with my Nikon D600?JAMES B : I haven't figured out how to use it! Am looking to replace it with a different size . . . the "live view" option is very useful and a screen shade ought to be very useful . . .RICHARD P : Yes, it works great with may D600.GEORGE B : check there web site, I use on canon 7d II and 5d mark 3 I don't see why it wouldn'tJORDAN F : I'm not sure what the size of your display is on a D600. I have a D300s with a 3.5 in. screen and it covers the display perfectly, It has very sharp optics. I would recommend it regardless of it's size if you have a need to see your images in playback while outside or with a client who needs to see what your shooting. Daylight blows out the display. To me, it's a "must have" piece of equipment. It's a great tool which I was very fortunate to have on particular occasions. I hope this helps...M JOEL B : According to the Nikon website, the D600 has a 3.2" monitor so this Hoodloupe will work.JULIET M : I'm sorry, I can't answer this because I don't have Nikons and don't know their details.SUE P : I believe the LCD screen on the D600 is 3.2", therefore the 3.2" Hoodman Loupe would be compatible. I use mine all the time with my D800E and would not be without one. Be sure to consider getting the Loupe that is collapsible as it will take up less room in your camera pack.
MARK B : Does the loop fit the screen of a Canon 5D Mark II?PAUL J : It will fit a mark 2 but it will be bit roomy and may let light in. I use it on a mark 3 which has a little larger screen. You should be able to order the correct model for your camera.John P : It depends on the size of the LCD screen on the Canon 5D Mark II. If it is 3.0" in diameter, Hoodman sells a loope that is for 3.0" screens. If it is 3.2" in diameter, it will of course fit. Using a 3.2" loope on a 3.0" screen will probably work, but may touch some of the controls.BRODY W : 100%!!GLENN P : If your screen is 3" or 3.2" you will be fine.LEI Z : yesMICHAEL H : My buddy shoots with a 5DMII and he borrowed mine all the time till he got his own. I don't go out without having it with me. :)JAMES H : I have a Nikon so I don't know. Check measurements on your Canon and check the specs of the loupe.

Hoodman makes outside viewing possible

I had a hard time viewing my photos outside in bright light before I got the hoodman Loupe, now I can see all I need to, to get just the right picture, even in bright light.

Collapses a :Little too Easily

Performance is great, as the unit provides a magnified view of the image in my Canon's viewing screen and is especially effective in cutting out bright light that obscures normal viewing. However, the hood collapses easily and requires frequent adjustments to extend it back to full view. I do like that the cord for hanging the hood around my neck is actually secured to the body of the unit, rather than that Mickey Mouse cord on other hoods that needs frequent tightening and has cost me lost units and one unit that the entire eye section fell away and was also lost. I had one cord that simply broke and dropped my hood into the bay. Yet, I rely on the things and keep buying them. They do help in viewing exposure ranges and detail, a lot

great field tool.

this is excellent for checking exposure in the field and focus to a lesser degree. especially on a bright sunny day. the quality is good and the size is very manageable. a little more magnification might help but this is an essential tool that i wish i had bought years ago.

Great tool

It is frequently difficult to review pictures on the digital screen in order to determine if the exposure/composition/depth of field are adequate. This viewfinder allow anyone to see clearly, regardless of the ambient light. It prevent light reflection and glare. A must have for any serious photographer.

It's great, but a bit overpriced

Serves the purpose - the LCD can be looked at without a glare and check for clarity of the image. But at ($) it is a bit overpriced.

Hoodman helpful for critical focus.

I'd been reading about this product for some time, and was frankly curious about how useful it might be. I found it does take some getting used to, and is best suited for nature and still life shots in which you have time to compose a shot. I really like it for shots down low to the ground when I can fold the screen out and use the Hoodman to fine tune the focus. I'm looking forward to using it for nature shots.

Good device for bright sunny days

The hoodloupe works well in bright, sunny locations where it is often difficult to see the LCD display. There is some magnification, but the real value is checking your photos.

One of the best

The compact Hoodman is compact (doesn't eat up valuable space in my bag), is high quality, and allows me to confirm that I'm in focus. And believe me, as a full-time architecture & interior photographer, focus is not an option. Using this product is a no-brainer.

Nice tool

This hood/loupe does a good job. When you need to check critical focus or confirm focus point it is much better than putting on the old reading glasses. The hood feature is nice when shooting into the light source. Most helpful.

Makes A Difference

I was surprised how much better I can see the screen with this. It really does make a difference. The ability to fold down is a plus; however, it does take up some space though. If you are going to be in sunlight or any where bright it is a no brainer the benefit outweighs the bulkiness.

Allows image review in bright sunlight

After you've taken the shot and need to really see what's on your LCD, this HoodLoupe will allow you to get real close. You can check exposure and focus in bright sunlight. The eyepiece is adjustable to most people's eyesight and will really get you down to the pixel level when used with your + button on the back of the camera. An essential tool to have in your camera bag. It's built to last and I don't worry about it being banged around in my kit.

Great for Macro Work

By Big B.

Use for outdoor macro photography. Really makes a difference when shooting in the sunlight and trying to get accurate manual focus using live view.

The Hoodman HoodLoupe Optical Viewfinder for 3.2" LCD Displays is used to make a close inspection of images as you reviews them on your DSLR camera's LCD display. The LCD screen Loupe isolates the display from ambient light so you will not be distracted by reflections or shadows in it. This makes it easier to view image details quickly to confirm focus and ensure that you have the best image possible. It will provide full coverage of an LCD display screen up to 3.2" diagonally with a standard (3:2) aspect ratio. The Compact HoodLoupe also shrinks down 30% smaller for easier transport and storage when not in use - going from 3.25" to 2.25" with ease.
