Get what you pay for
I still have the original blm-01 battery that came with my old E-500 camera. It is over 5 years old and still usable. I purchased a new E-30 camera which obviously came with a blm-01 battery included. I purchased this addional battery strictly as a spare as I now take many more pics in RAW mode.

better than the generic
generic battery can not match the life of
the olympus version. it's has a longer lifespan
and hold a much longer charge.

Last Longer Than 1700mAh Replacement
When I bought the E-510 about a year ago I bought a non-Olympus battery that advertised 1700mAh. The 1700mAh battery should have provided more shots per charge. In fact I was able to take noticeably less pictures on a charge the 1700mHa battery and the non-Olympus battery already died (will not charge) and the original 1500mHa Olympus battery does not tale noticeably less photos on a charge than when it was new.

difficult to replace with cheaper ones
I am using three of those on a new E-3 system. Have tried to use cheaper ones but they are lasting about one third of the original charge BLM-1 provides. Also generic models are prone to overheating if you forget them on the original charger /apparently cannot be turned off when charged automatically. The result is swollen off batteries that cannot fit the E-3 battery slot and you have to throw them away.
This is the best and only battery to use on the E-3.
