Shopper : Excuse me?PAL or NTSC ?JENNIFER L : I'm not sure how to answer that, so hope you received another answer. It records in AVCHD or JPEG Motion. You might check the manual, but I don't see PAL or NTSC mentioned. Here's the link. http:// shop. panasonic. com/shop/model/DMC-GH2HK?t=manuals (Remove the spaces.)BRIAN C : NTSCFREDERICK M : ntscSIMON Z : Iwould guess it should be your choice. In Europe PALL, and in North America has to be NTSC format. Regards Saz.GAVIN H : NTSC
Shopper : Excuse me. Could you tell me where is the country that manufactures the camera Panasonic lumix DMC GH2 HK? Im interesting in this model made in japan.ROBERT K : Camera is made in China. 14-140 lens is made in Japan. Sorry for the delay--been away from my emailKHY H : The body was made in China and the lens was made in Japan.JOSEPH O : I bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Camera, Black with 14-140mm Hybrid Lens from Adorama on March 9, 2011; it was manufactured in China. I don't know if there is a version made in Japan, even though Panasonic is a Japanese company.MICHAEL H : The GH2 is manufactured in China.PATRICK L : The body is made in China. The lens is made is Japan.S S : Made in China
Shopper : How well did it work? Were you happy with it?BYRON C : This is an excellent lens for specific purposes. It's great as a walk around lens, especially outdoors. The lens is too slow for night, hand held pictures, even with the built in vibration controls. i have tried this lens at the 6-10 Redskins games. The Skins didn't have that many touchdown runs, but it is hard to stop the action. No problem for the much heavier Canon Eos 5D, Mark ii with an f 2 80-200 zoom. There you are talking about much more weight and expense. So, in a nutshell, I think it is great for sightseeing, but not for sports or night photography. No one lens will do everything. It is definitely a keeper if you have other lenses or cameras for specific purposes. Keep in mind that point and shoot cameras will not work well in night scenes either.BERNICE V : I like everything about the camera except the photos. I like the electronic viewfinder, the swivel LCD screen and the placement of all the controls, but I have tried everything I know to do and the yellows and whites don't look right. Also, the photos don't have as much detail as those taken with my Panasonic Lumix FZ35--this might have something to do with the noise reduction, but I have played with that and am still not satisfied. The video is wonderful but that is not as important to me as the still photos. I hope this helps.CHARLES L : I'm quite satisfied with the Panasonic 14-140mm lens. Build quality is relatively high, action is smooth, distortion is well controlled by the software; the lens is sharp. Overall picture quality is noticeably higher than what I was getting from my Nikon D200 with its 18-200 mm lens. I do not shoot video so no comments there...RAVI R : This is my secondary camera and it will be that way. It cannot beat a Canon 60D or D7000 both of which I have. During travel to tourist places carrying a normal SLR camera is too heavy and big. Some places it is dangerous to be seen carrying big SLR camera and big lens. This camera is small and can gets me good photos. The Camera is great under normal conditions. If you are stepping up from a point and shoot, or from stepping down from SLR cameras, the menu system and button organization will take some serious effort to get used to. The choice of lens can become a limiting factor if you are taking photos or video under difficult lighting conditions. Panasonic adapter gives me access to standard SLR lens from Olympus. Not all such lens allow auto or continuous focus. Manual focus during a video shoot needs lot of practice as there is no focusing aid during the video recording. Depth of field is not as great as standard SLR. To get better DOF you must invest on the pancake lens, Camera lacks in body image stabilization. Sometimes tripod is needed when using non-Panasonic lenses or pancake lens.William G : Works well and I'm very happy with it. However, there are limitations, especially in the lens for shooting video. there are many reviews such as www.dpreview.com/reviews/PanasonicDMCGH2/ that are helpful. I shoot video only - no stills.SIMON Z : I took this set up to Portugal earlier this year instead my Nikon D700 because of size and weight. Panasonic worked out exceptionaly well in all respects including optical performance. Beside this zoom I also took 20mm pancake lens. Good luck.ALEXANDER T : I bought the GH2 for the size and it's ability to take videos. Unlike my other cameras like the Canon 5D and 60D, the GH2 can focus easily while taking videos. The small size also makes it easy to pack. The downsize is that taking photos is not as fast as my Canons. There is a noticeable lag. You will have to anticipate the moment if you want to capture the photo. I would buy the camera again. Good luck.JOYCE M : I love this camera! It is small, light, takes great still and motion pictures. I am challenged to understand how to download and edit the motion pictures in AVCHD mode, but am making progress. Great camera.VLADIMIR S : very good camera. pretty happy with it.

The best cam for low budget

The GH2 hacked is better in resolution than many other DSLR (including 7d, 5DII etc)...

a great hybrid camera

I wanted to replace my old Canon G6 with a multi-lens camera, that could also shoot video. Being comfortable with Canon cameras, the T3i and 60D were my initial choices. After seeing the results of a friend's Panasonic GH1, I included the GH2 in my research. Although the Canon 60D is better suited to still images, the GH2 is a better all-round camera for my still and video needs. The GH2 certainly shoots excellent still images, but its video capabilities are what really sold me. The "auto" features works well, but the manual controls are key to getting the most from this camera. For those interested in the GH2, I highly recommend the "Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Unofficial Quintessential Guide" by Matsumoto & Roullard. It goes into detail much better than the GH2's owner's manual.

Amazing Camera

This is a great camera... I'm still teaching myself how to take full advantage of its features, but so far, I'm really impressed.

GH2 review

I needed a camera that could shoot good quality video, and be a substantial upgrade to my old Canon G6. After much research, the GH2 remained as best choice for my needs. There are other cameras that shoot good video, but none that hit all the marks that the GH2 does. For still images, cameras like the Canon T3i have a slight advantage, and even a bit less expensive. However, the difference is slight, and the GH2 video quality, smaller format and EVF won me over. Everyone has different needs, so its best to define what YOURS are, and take all reviews, including this one, with a grain of salt.

Very pleased but incomprehensible manual

I use this camera for recording personal histories and other interviews. The picture quality is great. However, I found it very difficult to get started because the accompanying manual is, in my opinion, extremely difficult to understand. I am not yet up to speed after six months and am eagerly anticipating the new book on the GH2 which will be published in January to answer my many questions. However I am very pleased I bought this camera.

Little DSLR that could!

I am a professional videographer and sometimes I have to shoot stills as well. But I do shoot stills as a hobby. I stressed over getting this camera for weeks, finally pulled the trigger. So far, I am very satisfied. The 14-140mm lens I bought with it is, indeed, slow but the auto focus is awesome both in photo and video mode. The glass is very clean, upon cursory inspection of photos and video I can find no immediately visible issues as it compares to other higher priced DSLR's and lenses. The menu is incredibly intuitive, which is a good thing since the manual is thick. The electronic viewfinder takes getting use to but I think I'm going to adjust just fine. And, the touch screen LCD makes mode changes really fast. The best thing about this camera for me is the quality of the moire free video with a very fast auto focus lens and a rotating LCD. That combination alone puts this camera in a class by itself, ergo a hybrid. The least favorite thing for me....micro 4/3rd's. Why? Cuz, it's also in a class by itself, meaning you have to buy an adapter if you want to use your existing APS-C or full frame DSLR lens. Also, the smaller size takes a bit of getting use to as to how to handle the camera without hitting buttons. Bottom line, great video, very good stills and the perfect travel combo camera because of its smaller size and ability to shoot both high-end video and stills.

Great video quality, almost no noise.

So far I love my camera. Although I must warn you its almost as ifthe camera was made specifically for video. I shoot music videos and short films and I must say the camera is excellent, a little pricey though. There is a lot les noise and the rolling shutter is better then most dslrs. This camera has great manual controls to really adhere to my creativity. I definitely recommend this camera to any professional videographer.

Lumix GH2 Review

Great camera. Main criticism is the slow learning curve to master the benefits of this camera.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Digital Camera has a large 17.3 x 13.0mm Live MOS sensor that records 16.05MP of high resolution goodness, a 10x zoom lens (28-280mm equivalent in 35mm), 1920 x 1080 60i HD Video with Dolby stereo sound, a multi-function Touch Screen for control of both stills and video and extremely fast auto focus in a camera 1/3 smaller (4.88 x 3.53 x 2.98"/12.4 x 8.96 x 7.58 cm) and lighter (13.82 oz/392 g) than most DSLRs.

It has MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) to eliminate blurry photos from low shutter speeds/shaky hands, a 3" free-angle LCD with 460,000 dots, high sensitivity up to ISO 12800 and an advanced dust reduction system to protect image quality. RAW capability in still images gives you ultimate control for the best pictures possible.

There's a lot more, of course. Like 3D shooting capability with the Lumix G 12.4mm/F12 interchangeable lens, a built-in flash with 1st and 2nd curtain sync and iA (Intelligent Auto) mode that makes all settings automatically to give you optimal results without worrying about shutter speeds or exposure. Both stills and video can be customized with Scene and Color modes for a vast range of creative options.

A Cinema mode allows you to shoot 1080/24p video with 24Mbps, a Variable Movie mode lets you choose the frame rate, from 80% to 300%, there are a variety of color modes (including 3 different black and white settings) and, you can even shoot a high resolution 14MP photo at the touch of the shutter button, while recording video! A wide range of optional accessories such as an external stereo microphone, a zoom lever for smoother zooms in video recording, external flash, HDMI cable, etc. might make the DMC-GH2 just right for you.
