Sony doesn't make a one piece off camera MIS flash cable for the new interface shoe. My $400 HVL-F43M flash lacks the external port provided on the F60M, which is used for the piece meal solution. I love the F43M performance, but lack of a cable in a real handicap with my Alpha 7 for weddings etc. The other thing is that they don't explain the use of accessories well. Photos of items don't show all views of interface connections. This makes it harder to determine the application. When you advertise a product, you will have a better chance of selling it if the potential buyer knows what it is for.

I was making plans to purchase the Sony 500mm f/4 lens and all the items needed to use it properly. I use the Sony HVL-F60M electronic flash with an extender for some of my wildlife photography and I was concerned about losing the high speed function of the flash unit if it was mounted off-camera. I spoke with a Sony representative who assured me that the flash would still function in high speed mode when attached to the camera with the FA-CC1AM Off-camera Flash Cable. He was correct, however when using the cable with the Sony Alpha SLT-A99 camera, or any other Sony camera with the new multi-interface shoe, you must use the Sony ADP-MAA multi-interface shoe adapter (supplied with camera) to connect the flash cable to the camera. My only frustration is that the threaded end of the cable is very difficult to screw into the mating terminal on the flash unit. I'm sure Sony will eventually offer a cable that attaches directly to the multi-interface shoe on the camera but the current setup does work well.

This is a good accessory to have in the bag but be aware that neither this cable nor the extension cable will will S-T-R-E-T-C-H beyond 48 inches. If there is any way at all to reach the 59 1/8 inches that Sony lists them to be in their specs,I'd really appreciate it if they would send me the formula !

It a cable for gosh sakes ... what can you say about a cable? Sony makes this one for the Alpha series cameras and it works. You get two choices (1) a long one or (2) a short one. This one is lightweight and their advanced coil cord design doesn't get tangled up in your tackle box like inferior straight cables. Photos taken with straight on hot shoe flash have hot spots and look ugly. Buy this cable and do some Rembrandt lighting high and angled down from the side, your photos will look better. I bought the short one for starters and it works fine for me. I'm glad I have it.

Enhance your flash photography with the FA-CC1AM off-camera cable. This cable connects directly to your compatible flash and your a Digital SLR Camera, givingyou enhanced lighting flexibility.
Note: Connects directly to HVLF58AM flash. Requires FACS1AM Off-Camera Shoe for Flash to be used with HVLF20AM or HVLF42AM flash units.
