There's a concourse at a sports arena I work at often that has the worst yellow tint to it when I'm shooting flash inside. Now instead of selecting out the background and changing the white balance for that in each photo, I add the 1/2CTO gel to my flash, send the WB down to like 3000k, and I'm done in camera. There are some slight learning curves, like this example gives a lot more saturation to my reds, but this is exactly what I needed for a quicker work flow.

Really enjoy the gels and how easy they are to use. I have always skipped over gels in my photography for the simply fact they were a pain. Having them magnetize to the of the setup is super convenient and has allowed me to play a bit more in my photography.

Always struggled with the gelatin based correction gels. This solution lets me keep the ones I need ready in by bag to be snapped on any time I need. Easy, quick, and efficient.

I used these for the first time at a local photography meetup. We had a model show up offering to pose for us TFP, so I took the opportunity to test these gels, which I had just purchased. I had already purchased a MagMod starter kit a few months ago, and I was very pleased so far. I had been watching MagMod's video tutorials and I wanted to give correction gels a try, especially so I could experiment with changing my color temperature for sunsets while still keeping the model color correct. Unfortunately, the sky was very cloudy and overcast at sunset. I decided to change my settings to 3500 K to try to make the sky look bluer, and I took some quick shots of another photographer with the CTO gels to find the right one to make the model appear color correct (this proved to the 1/2 CTO in my case). The gels were super easy to pop on and off, but stayed on when I moved my lightstand. But I had to wait my turn to get to shoot with the model, and by the time she was available, the sun had already set, and the other photographers had moved her to the other side of the park, with her back to the east. I decided to keep the settings I had already set up for sunset, since the dark blues in the background conveyed an even deeper impression of night. I used the 1/2 CTO gel and grid on a single AD200 to light the model. I am really pleased with the way that these shots turned out. This was just practice, but I hope to be using these in the near future when doing paid work.

I've only used the orange gels so far for color correction but I absolutely love how easy they are to use?just pop it on and you're done. Love the magnets.

I'm a huge fan of MagMod system, have been using it for 2,5 years now on weddings and sessions. Love how easy it is, and have been using the correction gels for beach sessions (using the 1/2 blue one makes the sunset even more "sunsetty"). Thus, when the 2nd generation of these correction gels came out, I was more than excited to use them, as they're so easy to mount now. However, I was very frustrated by the result from the first wedding I took it to. The gel is not 1/2 blue at all, but like full blue or more - the example shot is the out of the camera file with temp at 6050. To balance this blue hue now, I had to pull the WB temp all the way to the top (or use masks). This never happened to the 1st gen correction gels that I eventually had to come back to. You can also see on the photo how different the 1st and 2nd gen gels look even from the outside. I reached out to MagMod support and they didn't comment much on the issue itself or if it would be resolved shortly (3rd gen gels??), and the end result was a 50% refund for the gels that I still got to keep. As I'm most frequently using the 1/2 blue one, I'll just have to set aside these gels and keep using the 1st gen ones. I still love MagMod products and keep using them on the weddings (the new MagSphere 2 is amazing!), just that this one in particular did not work for me, and if you're a photographer who is looking for a similar solution, be aware that this 1/2 blue is much more intense (I haven't tried the other colors yet).

We love these gels! The wide range and colors along with the ease of use are a big plus! Great product creates great pics! Awesome! Just a side note? don't buy each pack separately, big the entire collection, it's cheaper than buying each set separately?

The CTO gels are my go-to for wedding receptions. They've helped countless weddings in which I needed to ensure I captured the essence of the room/theme. The bonus of having them with the magnets embedded, making my setup time even faster than the previous version, makes these gels a must have for any wedding or event photographer.

These gels are such an awesome upgrade with the magnetic feature and the speed that this function offers. I was rather bummed upon opening my order to see that two of my gels had the magnets dislodged; I wrote to MagMod via email though and they were AMAZING about their customer service in handling the matter. They were quick to reply and immediately sent me replacements for the gels I sent photos of the issue with. The replacements are nice and sturdy and I'm a happy gal with a full set of the pro correction gels. Thank you for your awesome customer service, MagMod! These are the responses that keep me interested in returning to support specific businesses in this industry again and again, I will def be ordering more from Mag Mod :)

I've been using the 1st gen gels for a while now, and it's always been a hassle to be taking them out and back in the frame again. With this 2nd gen it's so much easier as it's just another magnet that you put on and that's it. Way easier, thanks!

Absolutely love their new gels. I had the first version and must say it was always an extra step inserting gel into the mag holder. Now with these I simply attach on flash and boom your ready with color corrections on flash. These for sure are in my bag, just recently purchased a 2nd set since I use multiple flashes.
