The specs state that the DVD player will play all DVD's, but with a footnote. That footnote states that some recording conditions will cause the unit to not play a DVD. Yet, the footnote does not further explain what those conditions are.

I have Sony CD player purchased in 1989 - carusel for 5 CDs. Still in perfect order. Over the years I had many Sony CDs, DVDs, and MDs. No one failed me.
