Many don't see the need for a light meter, relying on the modern camera meters. The Sekonic 308 has the necessary basic functions, is accurate, and I think a good value. Sometimes I use the meter when I am scouting different settings, including indoors to decide what lenses and or flashes I might want to use. I also think it is useful when using reflectors, diffusers, and flashes outdoors.

These include an LCD backlight for easy reading in low light conditions, Aperture (F) priority in photo mode for depth-of-field control, and ISO 850 for cinema camera's native ISO.
This pocket-sized light meter is known for its exceptional accuracy. It's equipped with a sliding lumisphere for measuring both ambient and flash lighting, making it a versatile tool for any shoot. The L-308X-U can measure reflected light via a lens with a 40-degree reception angle and has a wide metering range from 0 to 19.9 EV at ISO 100. It can also work with flash within a range of f/1.0 to f/90.9 at ISO 100, ensuring precise light measurements for every shot.
The L-308X-U Flashmate is a three-in-one meter, featuring photo, HD Cine, and Cine modes.
