Poor Man's Tripod

If you intend to use this for a full-size SLR OR DSLR, forget it. The slightest breeze and the camera vibrates. The ball head can hardly support the weight of the camera when a telephoto lens is used. Best suited for pocket-sized compact cameras or video cameras. Very disappointed. Used it one time and won't bother with it again. Takes a while to set it up and take it down again if you intend to transport it in its carry case. Has different adaptors for compact and full-size cameras, one of which has to be tightened with an Allen wrench. The hole where wrench goes is so shallow that it's hard to tighten the adaptor. I complained to the company about this, and they sent me a new adaptor. Same problem!

Nice but magnet not all that strong

Very nice Monopod and it packs well. Nowhere near as bulky as most. Easy to assemble. We took it to Mexico and it packed easily in our carry-on luggage. Using a Canon 20D with the 24-105 IS lens - the magnet alone is not strong enough - you must use the safety clip also! The magnet alone would be fine with a smaller camera.

Everybody should have one of this.

Went to Hawaii on a honeymoon cruise for 15 days. Used the TrekPod Go with my Pentax W10. Got all kinds of photos of the two of us. Set my Nikon SB900 on the TrekPod as hairlight and shoot with my SB800 fired by the built in flash of my D300 in command mode. Great results. If the whole thing will telescope into a single piece, like the Komperdell, it would be perfect.

Great monopod

This is a great mono/tri pod. Very light and people think you have a great walking stick. Now that I have started using it I get much steadier shots, just was out on a very windy day and found it rock solid. I was skeptical about the magnets holding a heavy SLR but they do with no problems whatsoever. The only low point is that assembling the pod is a bit tedious.

Great for Nature Photography

Most of my photography involves hiking. I use a hiking staff, and rarely took a tripod along. With the TrekPod Go, I have one lightweight pole that does it all! I've used it on 3 hikes. With a DSLR on it, it is a bit top heavy if it's windy or on an incline. I expected that because of the shorter, lower tripod legs. Just keep a hand on the pole. It's a small inconvenience in exchange for the versatility. To better protect the tripod legs while hiking, I bought some rubber table leg caps at a hardware store. A cap slips snuggly over the 3 folded legs, and offers better grip on most surfaces while hiking.

TrekPod Go! is Trek-Tech's premier tripod/monopod/hiking staff multi-tool which incorporates numerous customer-requested enhancements including the ability to pack into its included carry case and fit in an overhead carry-on, It also telescopes 4" shorterin the hiking staff/monopod mode, has "soft touch' rubber locking nuts, captures the palm rest so it won't get lost, and introduces the new MagMount AR/i, while retaining all of the original TrekPod's innovative capabilities.

Magmount AR/I is a significant refinement of the industry's first magnetic quick-release camera and optical device mounting system. It provides for the instant attachment of almost any camera, spotting scope or other device that uses the industry standard 1/4"-20 mounting stud. The new Anti-Rotation feature locks your portrait shots in place, and indexing every 30° aids with panorama photos and precise position repeatability.
