I did about 2 years of research before landing on this Canon EOS-M50! And I?m glad I took the time tor research because I feel this is the best value introductory mirrorless camera. It was a gift for my wife; and the reason it took so long was because I was justifying the iPhone?s camera being good enough to not purchase a standalone DSLR or Mirrorless camera. But in our recent NYC trip, we took close to 2,000 photos on the Canon. They came out great! And it made perfect sense to get a dedicated camera because I don?t believe we would have taken that many photos on our iPhones! The price is also great in regards to the package of a mirrorless camera!

I am still exploring this marvel of technology, but so far I am blown away. I have been following the reviews for this camera since its introduction and I've seen nothing but good, which is why I made this purchase. So much more features than my 10-year-old DSLR.

The camera is really lightweight to carry. It has a good exposure and f point. Although the kit lens is not sufficient to capture more light, it does a really good job for portraits. I loved the hybrid mode the camera offers which is an amalgamation of video and snapshot, which is good for certain kind of reels and v logging.

Each year digital cameras get better. I had a Nikon DSLR for a month when Costco sold cameras and returned it since it was too big and the battery door fell off in a museum shoot. It took incredible photos. I kept looking for a mirrorless camera and after months of pondering I finally bought the Canon M50. This camera fits in your hand and takes photos equal to the Nikon I returned. It's smaller, faster, lighter, easy to handle, and the view screen that pull out and turns is incredible and is easy to see in sunlight. I purchased an adapter and have used my old Canon EF lenses with this camera so that was a bonus. Unlike a phone camera, the pictures I am able to get are way way better since you can select shutter speed, aperture size, and there are several easy to use scene selection options that help a novice to take great pictures.

I got the mirrorless camera partly because it is smaller and surprising how light the camera is. Does feel well made and nice sharp clear pictures.

Camera is nice. Accessories are eh. Mic is terrible. Just pick up the camera with a zoom lense instead of this bundle.

The camera is great! It arrived in perfect condition just in time for my vacation, as the salesman had promised. The camera takes very excellent pictures, it blows my iPhone 11 Pro camera out of the water. I?m taking away 1 start because the memory card and/or card reader that came with this purchase may have been faulty :( I lost most of my vacation photos when I tried to download them to my computer. After connecting the card reader my computer did not detect any photos on the memory card. I don?t think it was my computer because it?s a brand new MacBook Air. I ended up buying a new card and card reader and I haven't had any issues.

The VideomicGo shotgun mic has no EMI shielding rendering it effectively useless if you are anywhere near a wireless signal. (Basically everywhere. The camera is fantastic, but it?s bizarre that Canon would package their products with something affected by such a glaring issue.

So far in the few weeks I’ve had it, I’m happy with the product! As a beginner, a lot of places mention not to buy a kit due to not knowing your style or what you will need. I like this kit, because it gives you everything you need to start out without having too much that you won’t use right away.

The bundle comes with few softwares that does not work for Mac. This specific bundle did not have any info regarding if it will or will not work for Mac. It is disappointing and they don’t have a replacement. I wish that it would be explained more in details.

Great camera, gives professional results. The 4K is not broken, especially if you invest in the attachments like the Viltrox Speed-booster. You can get so much from this small powerhouse of a camera. Both video and photography wise.

I absolutely recommend this product for anyone who is taking a serious try at photography. You everything you need to jump right in. Once you start getting a good feel for how everything works, it gives you a good platform to upgrade your equipment. The M50 camera body is very nice and the kit lens is pretty solid.

I bought the M50 in a kit with two M lenses. The whole thing fits in a little case about 5 inches high, and with the footprint of a paperback book. The idea was to be inconspicuous and light weight without losing too much in the way of image quality or flexibility compared to my Canon 5D III set-up. For the record, I have no interest in shooting videos, and doubt I will ever pair the M50 with my cell phone. So, to be honest, I’m probably not the customer Canon had in mind (as suggested by ...

I am a hobbyist for starters, but took photography in college and have an MFA in sculpture. I am not a technical wizard nor a photography pro (my classes entailed making one's own prints in a dark room), but I appreciate good design and functionality with the ability to create beautiful photos. I mostly do landscape photography and photographs of a growing herd of rare breed Fell, Dales and Shetland ponies, the former two are at risk of extinction, if not critical in numbers. When Canon launched the EOS EF-M mount in 2012 as a derivative of the EF lens mount, they debuted it with the EOS M interchangeable lens camera. But 2016 changed that with the EOS M5.
Not only did it look like a diminutive DSLR, but....

The EOS M50 delivers improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF for fast, accurate autofocus that helps you get the photo you want right as the moment happens. When used with the EF-M 15–45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens, the autofocus area includes up to 99 AF points within an 80% x 80% range, and can be expanded up to 143 AF points to cover an image area of approx. 88% horizontal by 100% vertical when combined with select compatible lenses. The new Eye Detection AF analyzes the image and automatically determines where to focus based on your subject's eyes, helping to ensure a treasured headshot or once-in-a-lifetime moment with your best friend is captured in sharp detail.
The EOS M50 camera features a 24.1 Megapixel (APS-C) sensor capable of capturing high-resolution image and video files. At 24.1 Megapixels, the EOS M50's sensor delivers images suitable for enlargements with sufficient resolution for significant cropping. Whether making poster-sized prints, zooming in on a particular detail or making beautiful 4K videos, the EOS M50's sensor is up to the task. An ISO range of 100-25600 (H:51200) means images can be captured with low noise and high detail, even in dimly lit situations.
Many new televisions feature 4K Ultra HD resolution, which delivers far greater detail than HDTV. The EOS M50 camera can record in 4K UHD* at 24 frames per second, which gives your videos a cinematic look similar to most movies and TV shows. To showcase your epic and special moments, a high-speed 120p** mode is possible in HD. When shown at normal speed, this creates a slow-motion effect that can highlight fast action like sports or even delicate moments like the wind through someone's hair. 4K frame cropping lets you select a portion of the 4K video frame you've captured and create a high-resolution still image, all in-camera.
* Shooting at 23.98p is possible. Shooting takes place by cropping pixels from the center of the sensor. Contrast detection AF is used.
** AF is fixed. Playback is 1/4 slow motion playback (29.97p).
In certain situations, like a bright sunny day, a viewfinder is preferable to a screen. The built-in high-resolution electronic viewfinder*** on the EOS M50 camera features approximately 2,360,000 dots so you can see high amounts of detail in what you're capturing. Its Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology offers high-contrast, high-color images that can help properly display the scene you want to capture. Touch and Drag AF lets you use the rear screen as a touchpad while you're using the viewfinder, so you can choose what you want the camera to focus on with just a tap of your finger and without moving the camera away from your face.
*** The EOS M50 camera's EVF does not support a display change to the vertical layout.
The EOS M50 is the first EOS M series digital camera to feature a Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD, which has a flexible tilt range ideal for high-angle and low-angle shooting, and composing and reviewing your photos. Tap the screen during Live View while taking photos or videos and thanks to Dual Pixel CMOS AF, the EOS M50 will quickly lock focus to that location in the image. Touch gestures can be used for zooming in or swiping through images you've taken, and easily accessing menu and quick control settings.
