I'd been using a Canon for quite a while and although it had alot of features, its size and weight made me reluctant to take it out. With the 7RM2 I pop it in my bag and take it out in a more relaxed way. I think its improved my shots

Came with condition as mentioned, but came a bit dirty. Could have been cleaned before shipping. But works well thus far.

I brought this 3 months ago and over time have tested out all the setting and features and come to the conclusion that even thought it is a old camera it still packs a punch

I bought the camera just before it was discontinued, so I get a very good deal. The camera is excellent. Only short coming is the battery can only last for about 20 to 30 minutes.

This camera never fails to surprise me. It's been my main go to camera ever since I became a photographer and filmmaker. It takes really sharp photos and does an excellent job for video work as well. If I had to buy this camera again, I would because it is totally worth every penny ever since it's been released.

I bought this as a second camera and in its day it would have warranted five star rating, but seven years on it shows its age. Still, images are detailed and pleasant, but the sensor shows its age. It lacks brilliance and modern look of the images taken with the latest sensors in 2022. Menu is adequate, but not as well thought as on the most recent models. Focusing is excellent, but controls are not as responsive as are the controls of the most recent cameras.

I did not use the camera much, but a month after the expiration of the one-year warranty, its aperture was damaged. Now I have to pay for its repair. I have a camera with other brands, I have been using it for about 8 years and it has not had any problems, I expected more from Sony products because I used to try to buy only Sony products.

Love it! Hoping for more affordable lenses for this Full Frame Camera. Used both APS-C & FE lens. It would be great, if Sony could create: FE 10 - 20 f? OSS; FE 20 - 200 f2.8 OSS; FE 200 - 550 F? OSS lens, hoping to find more compatible lens, not much option.

Having switched from another leading brand this is my 2nd addition of Sony cameras as well as the GM lenses too, this equipment regularly produces stunning images and is so reliable........superior product in my opinion

This camera has a fantastic richly detailed sensor, and with an uncompressed RAW mode, astounding levels of colour detail. The only caveat is, that you need the best lenses to get the most out of it. I'm using the 28mm f2 FE and 85mm f1.8 FE and both get close to making the best of the sensor, with perceptual megapixel ratings in the high 30 MPs. I use a grip with my camera as the battery life isn't fantastic, so two batterys give me that extra peace of mind, and helps my handling of the camera in portrait. Although a generation or two older now, this camera has all the performance I need, the AF (with Sony FE lenses) is fast and accurate, and my adapted canon lenses via a metabones adaptor work pretty well also, although I plan to buy sony equivalents in time. The video quality is great, but best to shoot in 4K mode, and if you want the ultimate quality, APS-C crop mode, for the least possible noise at higher isos (although noise is low up to 1600, tolerable up to 6400) A real bargain at current prices. You would need to spend 4x as much to get anything markedly better.

Always been a Nikon camera user but in advice from LCE Derby team I swapped and never looked back . I also bought the 200-600 , what a stunning lens , then I bought the 70-200f4 , again spot on. Also just today purchased the 24-105 , this replaces a Tamron I had , what a difference superb products sold by the best camera shop I know

Had this camera for six months moving from Canon find the image quality excellent with the right lenses, hear lots of negative comments about the menu system but have found it fine just something new to learn and how often are you in the menu system anyway there are many advantages to the greater resolution if you print or sell large prints

The Sony a7r11 changed the way I shot my landscapes, the dynamic range made a huge difference, the handling characteristics, and the images out of the camera were brilliant.

What I Like...42mp seems to be the sweet spot between too much and too little megapixels...with an adaptor you can use the favorite lenses that you already have...What I Don't Like...battery life is a joke...if you are shooting a fast paced event the camera overheats and shuts down...I can't believe Sony released these cameras with those problems...however, while it is working it does take great photos and Adorama sold it at a really low price...there you have it, the yin and yang of this camera.

Purchased my first full-frame camera from Adorama. Love it. It was easy to order and delivered on time. Also traded in my old camera. They offered a good price. Looking forward to buying more gears from here.

After a few initial frustrations, I am delighted with this body, which represents a quantum leap over the 24Mp Alpha 7 it replaces. I am using with 24-105 mm f4 G series and 70-200 G series lenses, mainly the former. My main gripe is that when using spot metering, I would very much like to be able to move the metering area away from the centre of the frame, so it tracks the focus area. To get the best out of raw images, you will also need some familiarity with the features of Lightroom, as simply viewing the images can be disappointing. I would add some images, but those exported from Lightroom without compression are much larger than the allowed 5 MB!

I bought this as a relatively small mirrorless camera to use with my Pentax lenses, especially my vintage full frame collection. Compared to a Pentax K! it is small light and cheap. The sony lenses are comparitively expensive and hard to take on and off the body due smooth construction of the barrel. I bought 2 sony lenses and I'm not bowled over, I expected better. I guess I should have bought one really good one. The focusing options are useful and good auto photography is possible as one should expect. The manual focus capability is a dream to use with my Pentax lenses and the results are everything I wanted. Turn all the wifi and prefocus stuff off and battery life is better than I was led to believe. The Sony menu wasn't so bad as I had heard. There are 2 or 3 ways of adjusting settings and customising the buttons to use as a manual camera is easy enough. Plenty of videos on line to guide you. I found the smartphone app a bit of a curates egg but it's there if you want that sort of thing as is the video capability which I may not use often.I tried it with Sony 50mm lens fitted and it's simple to get an impressive result. The camera itself is now an old model but it still justifies itself on sale at the right price, If you haven't got a collection of vintage full frame glass to use on it choose the Sony lens with care and be prepared to dig deep. The Sony website is very good in my opinion and the lens compatibilty chart should be read and fully understood. BEFORE buying the camera.

I am impressed with the lightness of the camera, the full frame images are very clear and with 24-70mm sigma art lens very sharp images. I purchased the camera for Astro nebula photography to produce colour images and the larger sensor effectively decreased the magnification and although the camera has not been aimed at long exposures I was able to get the shutter on bulb and used an old remote tethered timer to obtain exposures of 3min and much more. 1st time out managed to get a reasonable image of heart nebula so good things to come. I purchased a tight fitting rubber case and screen glass protectors and a dummy battery to protect the camera. Although the menu system is complicated and extensive you get there in the end and so far very pleased with the camera.

Although Vimeo recently announced the introduction of 4K playback to their streaming service, their adaptive technology might render the news meaningless for filmmakers wanting to showcase their work. Or does it?
This weekend at IBC 2015, the major competitors in the camera industry will be making their announcements with regards to upgrades of past models and new eye turning products. And Sony is no exception. Their a7S mirrorless camera made waves last...
Incredibly light!
By Yiann
I've moved, recently, to Sony from Nikon. My main goal was to find a camera that packed all the features of a DSLR but that could be light as feather, as I was getting really tired of the weight of my previous set-up. I found it with the A7RM2, best camera for me, fits well in my hand. The tilted LCD screen is an advantage as I can easily photograph from lower angles without breaking my neck or going in to awkward positions. There are plenty of technical reviews online and I did do my researc...

Unbelievable, there's no other word for it. I knew that the jump Cropped Sensor to Full Frame was going to be noticeable, but nothing prepared me for this. I have shot this thing less than a hundred times and much of this was testing out the camera's capabilities. After all the usual "snaps" had been taken we put it to work and asked the question how well does the A7Rii handle low light. So I messed about with it and took some night shots, handheld on the maximum ISO in our back garden where...

World's first Full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor with 42.4 megapixels
The newly developed 35mm Exmor R CMOS sensor is the world's first full-frame sensor with back-illuminated structure. The structure combines gapless on-chip lens design and AR (anti-reflective) coating on the surface of the sensor's glass seal - with no low-pass filter - to dramatically improve light collection efficiency, even though the pixels are smaller than the ones in the a7R. Moreover, the wiring layer now uses copper (instead of aluminum) wiring for faster transmission speed. The results are truly remarkable with incredibly detailed 42.4 megapixel stills and 4k video with high sensitivity - up to ISO 102,400, low-noise performance and wide dynamic range that are superior to previous models.
5-axis in-body image stabilization optimized for 42.4MP full-frame
The 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization system is fine-tuned for high-resolution image sensors. It accurately compensates for blur caused by camera shake from five different directions vertical, horizontal, pitch, yaw and roll as opposed to only two in previous systems. The 5-axis image stabilizing system excels during video recording and even compensates for blur caused by the photographer walking or running. It's a true marvel of engineering. You can even monitor the stabilizing effects of camera shake compensation in the viewfinder or LCD screen while shooting still images by pressing the shutter button halfway or magnifying the image, and while shooting movies by entering movie mode.
4K movie recording 5 with full pixel readout and no pixel binning
The a7R II is the world's first camera to offer 4K movie recording to internal media in the full-frame format. It also provides you the option of shooting 4k in the super 35mm format. Enjoy the expansive power that the full-frame image sensor can express in 4k with direct pixel readout and no line skipping. In super-35 format, the a7R II employs oversampling with full pixel readout and no line skipping or pixel binning - resulting in images that exhibit higher resolution and less moire and jaggies than typical 4K movies. Fast hybrid AF with 399 phase detection AF points and 5-axis image stabilization take movie making to a new level.
Fast Hybrid AF with 399 focal plane phase-detection AF points
Your shots of action can look clearer than ever, thanks to a new full-frame image sensor that assures the world's highest number of focal plane phase-detection AF points, at 399, and the widest coverage, of 45% of the image area. With its accelerated readout and an advanced algorithm to anticipate subject movement, the sensor also makes it possible for the Fast Hybrid AF system with additional 25-point contrast-detection AF points to raise speed, accuracy, and tracking performance to incredible heights, even when shooting at up to 5fps at 42.4MP. Faster readout thanks to the back-illuminated structure of the image sensor improved AF response so dramatically that the AF system of the a7R II instantly captures even fast-moving subjects with razor-sharp clarity.

Durable reduced-vibration shutter
The new shutter's braking mechanism cuts mechanical front/rear curtain vibration by about 50%. Also, use the electronic front curtain for even less vibration. This not only minimizes camera shake that can blur details in 42.4-megapixel images it makes the shutter durable enough to have been tested to 500,000 cycles.
Tough magnesium alloy body and robust lens mount
Designed for solid reliability and steady handling, the compact body is built to withstand the rigors of shooting in the field, thanks to an internal structure and top, front, and rear covers all made of strong, rigid magnesium alloy. Furthermore, the a7R II features a robust lens mount with the strength and rigidity to match the body this is especially good for mounting large, heavy lenses such as super telephoto lenses and those preferred for movie shooting.
3" LCD screen tilts up and down for easy high and low-angle framing
The tiltable 3" xtra Fine LCD Display makes it easy to photograph over crowds, or objects close to the ground or maybe you just want to get a different perspective. The screen can swivel up approx. 107 degrees and down approx. 41 degrees. The large display delivers brilliant-quality still images and movies thanks to WhiteMagic technology that nearly doubles the brightness of the display through a unique RGBW pixel structure for easier checking of the focus and image details.
High-bit-rate XAVC S format for 4K recording
XAVC S format now supports 4K recording at maximum 100Mbps bit rate as well as Full HD recording at 50Mbps, so the a7R II can capture movies filled with finely detailed movement. For efficient handling, XAVC S files are minimized in size using Long GOP data compression, and contained in the widely compatible MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format.
Designed for a pro-workflow with Picture Profiles, S-Log and time code
The a7R II is equipped with S-Log gamma. Common to Sony's range of professional video cameras, S-Log expands the dynamic range by up to 1300% to minimize clipped highlights and loss of detail in shadows. The a7R II includes a picture profile that can adjust settings like gamma, black, level and color adjustment, and can be saved for use in a multi-camera shoot. It also has Full HD base band HDMI output, time code/user bit fo World's first Full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor with 42.4 megapixels
