Decent for the price. Connects well with the flashpoint R2 transmitter. Wish the power increments were smaller and wish the minimum power was lower which I don't believe was listed in the description. Otherwise no complaints. I like the modeling light on this as well. I am using inside of a 37 inch octabox

I started with a pair of the eVolv 200's for location and loved them. I wanted something similar for the studio and decided this would be good to try out. Inexpensive yet with enough power and versitility to do what I needed. Once you get used to the R2 system you get spoiled/

Overall it?s a great light, especially for the price. It?s pretty consistent in terms of power output and color balance. I haven?t done any very technical tests but it looks good to me 95% of the time. I?ve only had a few misfires, which I kind of expected. For the price, it gets 5 stars. If it were much more expensive I?d drop a star but I do love this light.

I have a crack on a lamp after one studio shot... it still works but you never know when I will have the last shot with this lamp. Anyway, this is a really good price for a home studio.

This and the 400ws monolights are my first studio lights and I couldn't be happier. The flash recycle rate is super fast and the light output is amazing.

Great light for beginners !! it works great wirelessly with my Canon camera, Don"t need a cable. My place is not huge so the power output of the light is good.. for a bigger place , you might need a higher wattage. Overall it works great for me.I had owned it for a little over 2 years and no issues, still works great.

I love this strobe. I got the 300 ws as a starter strobe and love the quality of light and consistent output. Easy to use, not too heavy, and being able to use it alongside my speedlights with the R2 is a big plus.

I have been using this strobe as well as a Flashpoint Studio 400. They both work flawlessly. The only criticism I have is that the power can only be reduced to 1/16. I would like it to go at least down to 1/64. I have a Flashpoint EXPLOR 600 battery operated strobe and it goes down to 1/256. If you want to shoot a models head and shoulders and want to shoot f/2 to get good bokeh to separate the model from the background you will likely not be able to do so with 1/16 power unless you do one of two things. Firstly you can move the strobe much further from the model which may be impractical if you have a small studio. The other possibility is to use a neutral density filter such as an ND8. I have to say that the price of this strobe is extreeeemly low for what it does. Its a steal !!!

I've been really happy with this strobe so far. I have a pretty small studio space, so I didn't need a a very powerful light. The 300 seems to be perfect for what I need. My budget wasn't huge, with my studio being closed for 3 months, but my main strobe stopped working and I needed something to replace it. Used with my softbox, this light produces beautifully even light, and recycles fast. I have only used this strobe for 2 shoots so far, one being 4 hours. I had no overheating issues. I would recommend this light to anyone with a smaller studio, it packs a punch for the price.

These lights work perfect! I'm using them as a hairlight and a backlight. I'm able to adjust thru the R2 controller or even my phone to find tune my portrait work. I especially like that they are light weight. Will. Be :the 400 watt sec versions for my main and fill. Plus maybe a couple more for kickers. This a great AC light for indoor and situations where you can plug in. Haven't got anything negative to say as of v yet. For the price...if one of these breaks down...you can afford to have a back up or 2. I a couple of battery powered 600s and they work wonderfully with these. Finally! Now i don't have to think about ProPhoto and theexorbitant cost of that anymore.

I love these as a beginner studio photographer these have been helpful, and is a good starter monolight to use. And also the price is very affordable. It doesnt come with a battery pack so if you wanna use them on location you'd need a battery pack.. also you need a transmitter to use HSS.. overall i love the quality of images i get from them

Got this as a replacement for an old Calumet Genesis, fast recycle time, took me a second to get adjusted to the set up but it wasn't too difficult to figure out. Great for the price. So far very happy.

I picked up two of the 300Ws versions. These are really great lights if you're just diving into strobe lighting, and if you want to buy into a system that is scalable. The build quality is pretty good for their price range, although I wouldn't recommend any location shooting in extreme environmental conditions (doesn't seem likely anyhow since these are AC powered lights). I've found that the 5-stop power range is actually soft enough for extremely limited fill-light (18.75Ws @ 1/16th) when ...

Perfect for my needs. Great price.
By Richard K.
I needed a low power monolight to fit a softbox with a built-in Bowens mount. This fits the bill perfectly. Adjustable powers settings in 1/10th stops, and adjustable modeling light from 5% to 100% (or proportional, or OFF) You can decide whether the modeling light stays on during recycling, or goes off and back on when recycled. The only downside, if you can call it a downside, is the flashtube is much warmer that described in the specs. They claim 5600 +/-200. Using a Minolta color meter, I...
