This product works exactly as advertised. It very quickly determines your location, date, and time via satellite communication. This product does not auto align your telescope with the night sky! (use Celestron Starsense Autoalign for this added feature capability) Note: this devise will draw additional power and will have issues if your battery supply runs low. Be sure that you have adequate power supply to power your telescope with this device.

Works great and looks just like the picture above and plugs into the AUX port on your telescope and has a aux port on the GPS itself provided so you don't have to sacrifice one of your aux ports to use it! It tells the telescope where you are and the time and date and whammo-bammo you are ready to go. The Extension Cable that comes with it is pretty long and I only had the cable try to wrap around the base one time, but that is something to be be cautious about but not a major deal at all! Believe it is a pleasure to have compared to inputting the data each time!

Works great!!! Picked up 16 satellites in seconds and had my time, date, and location for my Advanced VX mount in no time. I would absolutely recommend this product to ANYONE who has a compatible mount that doesn't already have GPS. It will cut your set up time down to a fraction. And as always, Adorama got it out to me very quickly. Excellent service every time. So if you need GPS for your mount, head on over to Adorama and they will get you taken care of right away. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this product. Thanks again Adorama...

Not necessary to have a great experience with your scope, but does shave off a few minutes of setup when used on a mobile platform at multiple locations on a regular basis.

I received the Celestron SkySync in good order and it mounted easily with the velcro straps included. It also plugged into and accessory slot on my AVX mount. I have not had decent weather to use this outdoors yet, however it has two goals. 1) Identify the location of the scope on earth and 2)Set the clock in the hand controller for the correct date and time. It will do this from inside the house in about 15 seconds attesting to the quick acquisition of satellites even through the walls. The reason for the rating of 5-stars. It also makes alignment extremely easy and the scope can be ready to go with a couple of presses of the alignment buttons. I can only wonder why Celestron didn't build this into the scope as they have in their CPC mounts? Perhaps there wasn't room? Otherwise it eliminates the need to add your coordinates and time to the mount with every setup. Well worth the money to have!

Small and compact unit. Linked to the GPS satellites in less then a minute. Usually in under 30 seconds. For me its a nice to have item. I mounted it on the arm high up so the GPS unit has a clearer view of the sky. I really liked the GPS on my bigger scope so i decided to get it for my smaller go to scope. In my option its worth the money.

Not really necessary since all you have to do is enter time, date, and GPS location, or the name of the nearest city, but a nice convenience to speed up Advanced VX setup.

I will first start by saying this item is not a bad item; however I purchased it with my bundled Telescope, Mount and SkyPortal Wifi Adapter. I did not know they could not be used together because one conflicts with the other so I just returned this GPS Module yesterday for a refund. It works if you use it by itself and not with the Wifi Adapter. Even though I returned mine I would still recommend this to anyone who does not want to punch in all the locations information into your controller. Just remember when you buy this that it will not work together with the SkyPortal Wifi Adapter. Also since the instructions did not mention this. In order for this to work. You Mount needs to be Wifi ready and you need to make sure it is enabled in your hand controller settings first.

This GPS receiver works OK with my Celestron mounts, but the receiver seems to be dated in that it can take quite a while to get GPS lock, sometimes taking over 10 minutes to get a fix. Although this might have been acceptable in the early GPS days, it is actually much faster to just get the coordinates from my smart phone and enter them manually with the keyboard. The price seems much too high for the receiver performance this offers.

This tells the scope where it is at within a few feet. the more accurate that you are the better the hand held works. I went from 30 min centring and aligning to just a few with this. combined then a guide camera and down to 10 min and most of that is looking at the pos/ mins on the software. once set this can be disconnected, however I do a periodic from time to time to correlate if what I am seeing "figures to be so" I know I think too much. or so that has been said.

I purchased this for use with my Celestron 8 SE SCT. Works great. Once you change the settings on the scope to use the gps and go into your alignment, it readily pulls up the gps coordinates and time. This allows for a more accurate alignment. I have used this three times since it arrived this past week, and I really enjoy using it.

This receiver fits very well into my Celestron Telescope mount. It is very accurate and doesn't take too long to lock into the satellites and download Date, Time, and Position information for precise operation of the GoTo System. Very convenient. It can be used with a variety of Celestron mounts. Some people say get a good eyepiece instead, but I say this will get you up and observing in no time. The RS232 connectors are delicate. Celestron should have moved to USB interface long time ago. If you travel with your telescope often, you will really appreciate the SkySync.

Once I got started buying my wife her telescope it seemed there was more to buy to get a great experience. It started with lenses and filters and moved on to this. The piece de resistance so to speak, this is the gem of her new collection. Go anywhere in the world and get lined up immediately! We were having problems with the telescopes computerized alignment system but this solved them all. It enters the time, and longitude and latitude. It has been very helpful to us and helps us get the most out of the scope.
