Vince R : will this head attach to a standard tripod with a 1/4 x 20 thread?RUTH H : It has a standard mount.JOHN H : It absolutely will. I purchased this ball head back in 2010 and used it on a Velbon monopod without any issues. I've since upgraded to a SBH-100. If you only intend to use this with a point and shoot or a lightweight camcorder then you'll be fine. If you plan to use your ball head with an SLR I would recommend getting one of the larger models as opposed to this one because the SBH-20 isn't meant to support heavier gear.FRANK M : Vince, The ball head has a 3/8 inch socket. Included in the package was a 3/8 to 1/4 socket adapter screw. it works fine on a tripod with the standard 1/4 x 20 thread. Regards, FrankANDREW R : Unfortunately no, this mounts using a 3/8" thread. It is designed to mount directly to a tripod, not onto a tripod head.
