work well, but check carefully

I originally acquired 6 of these devices for a very specific purpose that required wireless flash slaves quite distant from the camera. They are great in that they sense Canon pre-flash and therefore do not fire slave flashes until the 2nd flash. However, if the camera is fitted with a cheap external flash rather than the on-board flash, then the cheaper non pre-flash sensing peanuts can be used as the Canon won't fire pre-flash. Overall, I like the units except there can be discontinuity where they plug into the flash (I used them with Vivitar 283's) and therefore won't fire the flash. This occurred in 1/3rd of the units I purchased. I was able to overcome this by coupling to the Vivitar hot shoe instead as it is at the same voltage as the shutter cord socket. You lose hot shoe versatility this way, but it is a possible workaround. Out of the 6 units, one was dysfunctional and did not work in any case hence the 4 star rating.

Great Inexpensive Remote Flash Trigger

I use two PNDs with 2 Vivitar 283's when I photograph industrial league hockey games in the Atlanta suburbs. I set one up in the stands aimed at each goalie. I stay at the middle of the rink with a Olympus c770 with an FL-50 flash. The PNDs fire the 283s depending on which goalie I am facing. No wires, no expensive radio control! A really great product.

Many professional Nikon (D100) and Olympus E20N) SLR digital cameras have not one but TWO preflashes to fine tune the on board exposure computer. This will prevent standard slave units from working with these cameras

WEIN products has duplicated the entire line of its popular solid state batteryless slaves in a digital format that can perfectly synchronize with digital preflash cameras
