I am an all day, every day tripod user, and I have more broken tripods from the last 20yrs than most people have. I really like this tripod. Pros... Very sturdy Tall, Good leg diameter, easy to carry 1/4 20 and 3/8 mounts beside the head area Looks great The tripod bag is more of a hard-shell case and works with the head on as well. In all honesty, I never used a case for more than a few minutes before, I have used this every day. Several mounting plates short throw leg locks Center column is included and a flat plate is included and a leveler is included Price to this level of carbon fiber is great Few sharp edges Cons A bit heavier than I was expecting for its height (also kind of a good thing) The mounting screw with the recessed 1/4 inside the 3/8 is not the best. It works but I would prefer a flip-able screw. The center column twist lock works great, but I wish it was more like the leg twist locks in shape.

I honestly can't remember the last time I bought something that felt as utterly well-built as this. I haven't even used it in the field yet and I already love it. First, it's incredibly sturdy and all of its components look and feel amazingly well-made. It's a touch heavier than I would have guessed, but well worth it for the size and strength. Second, I love the height. As a tall photographer I'm often left crouching down at my travel tripod's max height. When I invested in a second studier tripod, I was surprised to see that this at its max height was well above my head/eye level. I'd estimate its max height to be between 6'9'' and 7' (>2 meters) Finally, I love the accessories and configurability of it. The ball head is wonderful, sturdy, and easily adjusted. The 2-in-one 3/8 and 1/4" screws are clever and very functional. Even with a ball head, it's easily panned on a horizontal axis with convenient adjustment levers. I'm just so, so happy with this, especially at this price. I almost love the tripod more than my new camera (which is saying a lot)

This head is solid as a rock. The knob to release the ball is very tight and takes a little muscle to move, but once locked the ball does not move. I've used a large DSLR and heavy telephoto lens (300mm f/2.8) with no issues. I got this to replace an ancient Gitzon head that was worn out.

I am in the process of writing a book on wildlife photography techniques and gear. Consequently, I have bought and tested many tripods and heads. I had been searching for a really good, moderately priced set of legs that would accommodate a between-the-legs leveling device which I could recommend. (I find such devices to be easier to use than any half ball leveler.) Adorama's half price holiday special on this model, which included such a device, was too good for me to pass up. When it arrived I chose that configuration, and thoroughly tested it. I was pleased to discover that it performed well. For its weight class it was as stable as any I have tested. I appreciated the inclusion of its bubble level, which was readable, even when a gimble head was mounted on its leveling platform. I also appreciated the inclusion of rubber grips on two legs as well as the inclusion of a decent case. (Since I outfitted it with a quick link device to allow me to switch from a point and shoot head to the gimbal one, I chose to replace the case with one that allowed room for stowing the gimbal head in an exterior side pocket.) I am very pleased with the resulting package and plan to take it backpacking, despite its slightly greater weight than a traveler design, since it is much faster to level and works well with either of the two heads to support even a long telephoto lenses on a full sized, gripped, DSLR.

Was Looking for a larger ball head for my Gitzo Systematic. The 3Pod is well made and rock solid. Could not have made a better choice at this price point.

Very well made, well designed ball head. Very stable and secure latching system. Allows me to take very long exposure photos with no slippage. Panning is very smooth. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a professional, sturdy ball head.

A Great Combination Of Legs And Leveling Platform

The 3POD Everest Series H2 Ball Head sports the most rigid, CNC-forged, anodized aluminum, wear-resistant finish, perfect for photographers demanding the most from their tripod gear. An innovative flip-lock clamping quick-release plate lets you rapidly lock and release cameras with one hand. The H2 employs state-of-the-art ergonomic design, damping for flawlessly smooth movement and jitter-free panning.

At the base of the head, a convenient inscribed 360º dial makes for easy, perfect positioning throughout the ball head's full range of panoramic movement. It has 2 bubble levels, 1 on the head perimeter and a 180º circular bullseye, next to the lock knob, assuring absolute precision along the horizontal axis, vertical axis, and zenith/ arc leveling. The dual drop-in channels support vertical portrait orientation without stress to the clamping mechanism. Assume any position and it can handle up to an incredible 66 lbs. securely and reliably for the shot.

One outstanding advancement of Everest ball heads is its ease of use. The magic starts with our flipping thumb-operated lever lock. Go through the motions to enjoy the moment. The attachment process is simple and secure. The most extraordinary QR Arca plate locking device for the ball head is the three-position thumb lever on the side of the platform.

As Arca QR plates vary slightly from brand to brand, our smart lock adjusts to grasp the width correctly and snugly at the user's whim. Any Arca-style plate will fit within the clamp jaws. Adjust the width of the rails of the lever lock clamp by tightening or loosening the screw mechanism on the lever lock.

Ergonomics, ingenious leverage, precision drag, and friction deliver absolute reliability for the confident image maker. Once set decisively, the head holds a position at any angle. Even when the base is level with the horizon, the camera's tilt maintains a true smooth pan despite the skewed position. The panoramic 360˚ rotation is also controlled by a base locking knob. A convenient calibrated scale is engraved on the base perimeter for accurate, calculated execution.

The dual U-shaped channels house the neck of the head platform base that is attached to the ball. The two notches guarantee support and security for the off-center placement of the camera. Both vertical and portrait positions can be easily achieved.
