I had been using a good quality Manfrotto camera tripod and that did OK but it's base was not as wide as the base of my sky adventure GTI. So the support was not ideal. You can't beat this nice lightweight and yet sturdy tripod. It's not super heavy duty but it will more than satisfy the need for a good steady base for your tracking mount. I like that when you lift up the setup the legs close together and don't stick out like the other tripod woud making it difficult to maneuver around any obstacles.

Arrived on time and in good repair, just not sure how steady it will be as I haven?t put my camera and drive unit on.

Wonderful tripod! I have my Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i mounted to this and it works incredibly. I?m new to Astrophotography and honestly wasn?t sure if this would for the equipment that I purchased but it exceeds my expectations. The legs are very solid and have a nice finish. The only thing I wish this had would be a tray at the base for lens or other equipment, as mine did not come with one. Overall, great product! And I would highly recommend especially if you purchased the Sky Adventurer 2i as the Sky-Watcher tripod seems to always be out of stock on every store site.

This pod is sturdy with a capital S but is not so heavy that it is unmanageable. I use to for astrophotography and direct observing with a telescope. Collapsible leg, a 3/8 inch wide center screw pushes up to what appears to be either 3/8 or 9/16 above base head. When extended, base head of mount is 42 inches above the ground. No manufacturer shortcuts taken in construction. Everything I wanted in a mount is in this mount.

Heavy, stable platform for my iOptron Skyguider Pro. I like the 2-section legs, which iOptron says are stainless steel while Adorama says their die-cast aluminum. I think they’re stainless based on the tripod’s weight. They also look stainless, very shiny. The locking leg spreader is very easy to use and does the job quickly. The tripod has no problem supporting a Nikon D7200 and 400mm zoom, counterweight and DEC mounting bracket (9.2 lb total) that I’ve been using for astrophotography. The iPolar electronic polar scope is steady as a rock even with the everything installed on the mount. It’s advantageous to do polar alignment with the camera already on the mount, which I couldn’t do with a lighter tripod.

I tried other photography tripods - and they worked. But, THIS IS DEFINITELY THE RIGHT ONE FOR ANY star tracker iOptron or otherwise. It is Super Solid where others were ok. Uses standard 3/8x16 male thread for attachment so it's versatile for use beyond star trackers. It's slightly heavier and slightly bulkier than most photographic tripods; but, DEFINITELY worth it for the stability and with a case (purchased separately), it is still portable and great for quick use. I also bought the 27 inch carry case by Slinger. It is PERFECT to transport and hold some minor accessories. Both were direct Adorama purchases that were competitive with anything on Amazon and Ebay and with Corona, I got my stuff faster via Adorama than many other purchases on Amazon.

I bought this to go along with the SkyGuider Pro. It does the job, but it's not "quite" as stiff as I was hoping it would be, BUT, I would still say it's well worth the low price I paid for it. It looks black in my photo, but it's just because it was dark.

Pretty solid tripod, but I guess it has to be for the SkyTracker.

The iOptron 1.5-inch tall tripod is a light weight, easy for travel, yet sturdy tripod for SkyGuider/ZEQ25/CEM25 mount. It has a die-cast aluminum top with stainless steel tripod legs. The ABS three prong spreader provides a strong support to the tripod.
