This is a 'Four & A Half Star' – near perfect! The MV502HA provides all the performance of a much heavier tripod in a lightweight carbon fiber package. The well built MV502 will stand up to serious use and is more than a match for any DSLR and most modern video cameras, such as the C100-C500. The photo does not adequately interpret the bulk of the tripod legs - this is a sturdy, solid design and is very well built. The 502 head is a top performer, but not quiet perfect. The 502 is ideal for DSLR and still photography but not 'perfect' for video – again, not perfect still means it's very, very good. However, during a brief break in period I was concerned about a creaking sound each time I would pan with the head. The issue was resolved by fidgeting with the various tension mechanisms and finding the right balance for the camera. But having owned dozens of Manfrotto heads this was the first time I experienced anything like this. A second unit did the very same thing and was corrected with the same process. Overall, high marks and a great addition to my kit.
