This is a great beginner variable ND filter. I wish it had a tactile feel like a click or something of that nature when turning the dial. It works quite well, although it does have a bit of overlap at the highest stop, it hasn't interfered with any of my photos though so I'm not too worried about it. All things considered it was a great investment especially for the price!

Nice quality, and sturdy rings. It is thick frame, but not an issue with my Sigma 85mm prime. Would be an issue if using on a wide angle lens like a 12-24mm.

It does a very nice job and I love the variable ability, I have noticed I get a Vingette with it, however, i?m still learning and that could possibly be user error. Does an amazing job in giving the smokey look to water.

Good quality for the price. Notice some darker vignetting, but only when you hit the darker side.

Amazing ND filter. For being the price that it is, it’s amazing. Usually ND filters go for $60+, but this is still great for the price

A decent product that gets the job done. Just make sure to use it carefully, it's not the highest quality.

Perfect for shooting at f/1.4 on my 85mm lens in bright sun. I often shoot portraits outdoors with my Nikon D610 and Nikkor 85mm f/1.4d. I really like the results when shooting at f/1.4, but it is often necessary to stop down a bit or use this ND filter.

Leaves a very noticeable dark X in the middle of the image when using on a wide angle lens. This is probably my fault for not considering ND filters with wide angle lenses, so I'm not returning it.

I was a little sceptic on the quality of this product because of it's low price. When I received it, and took it out of the package, I was pleasantly surprised to find the glass and metal parts to be well made. The Outer glass rotated easily upon the inner glass. The "Rim" metal parts were smooth when moved through the entire range. I suppose Better "Glass" and more "Polished" metal rims could increase the price, But a Volkswagen will get you to the same location a Cadillac will.

As others have said, going all the way to 8 stops doesn't look great, but I'm fine with that as I currently don't need to use all 8 stops. It's also a rather inexpensive ND filter, so I wasn't expecting it to be perfect. It's easy to put on and take off, as well as change the variable. I'm very happy with it!

Excellent ND filter.

Purchased the ND filter with 2-8 stops for my 55mm lens as I use it most often. Great for bright light as I experienced this day. Easy to place on lens & was to adjust. Highly recommend & the price was excellent.
When capturing stunning images with high-speed film or high ISO settings on your digital camera, the Bower 86mm Variable Neutral Density (ND) Filter is an indispensable tool. Designed to effectively reduce the amount of light reaching your film or sensor, this variable ND filter offers a range of 2 to 8 stops, providing you with the flexibility to precisely control the light intake.
Simply rotate the adjustable dial for a seamless, stepless adjustment of light reduction. This feature allows you to adapt quickly to changing lighting conditions, ensuring that you never miss the perfect shot.
With the Bower 86mm Variable ND Filter attached to your lens, you gain complete control over both exposure time and depth of field in your photographs. In bright conditions where most cameras struggle with fast enough shutter speeds, this ND filter steps in to enable shooting with wide apertures. This capability allows you to blur your background and isolate your subject, even under intense sunlight, creating a beautiful bokeh effect.
Moreover, this filter opens up the possibility of shooting long exposures, a technique highly beneficial for landscape and architectural photography. By exposing your shot for an extended period, moving objects like people, clouds, and cars can seemingly vanish from your images, resulting in a serene and uncluttered composition.
Crafted with a single coated design, the Bower 86mm Variable ND Filter ensures no unwanted reflections or glare compromise the quality of your final image. Whether you're an amateur photographer or a seasoned professional, this high-quality, durable, and versatile filter is a reliable addition to your photography gear.
