Love this light and am looking forward to adding two more to my kit for video and photo use. Definitely follow the instructions of the other reviewer here in order to update the firmware on the panel; the addition of gel colors and effects is a tremendous improvement on an already great device. Additionally, I'm happy to say that the CLAR app is very useful and I haven't had any issues with connection from my phone.

Powerful light for its size- great for Zooming. I’m glad I got the package rather than the a la cart light. I like having an external battery so I can swap it out and store it separately from the light itself. Good purchase.

I purchased six of these and use them for either practical or background lights and they're one of the best purchases I made for video production. The chroma key GEL settings are very bright and work far better than I thought they ever would. with these six lights if I choose not to use a chip on board light and a softbox they still produce great light quality for video. I also have three diffusers and they look great on all subjects including faces. These are LUXLI VIOLA 2 rebranded in program to use a rebranded app but functionally the same device with the same control besides the scenes sequencer. these are a must-have for any video production that wants to add color and accurate Lighting in a lightweight kit

This light does a lot. 3x as much power as an Aputure MC, 8x higher photometrics due to the power and optics. One issue worth noting is that the manual and product page says it has gel mode and effects mode, but they ship with firmware v1.0 which has none of those things unless you use the app. And it says you can upgrade the firmware at their website but, there don't seem to be any firmwares available to download from Adorama/Clar. So I upgraded the firmware using the firmware from Luxli for the Viola2, which this light is a rebrand of. If you just change the filename prefix to match the old firmware, it works and the latest firmware has gel and effects mode built in. I wish it worked with Luxli's latest app that has extra app-only effects and programmable sequences instead of only Clars which likely won't get updated much. Another issue to note is that there is only hue adjustment on the unit, not saturation/lightness (the app calls it lightness but it should be saturation since lightness should be intensity). You have to use the app to change saturation, but if you do it keeps the setting and you can't change it back without going back into the app. Same for effects, you can tweak them in the app and it keeps your settings, which is mostly good but could be annoying in some situations. Also the base desaturated "white" in HSL/RGB mode seems very blue which is weird but you won't notice that unless you are using very desaturated colors which is probably somewhat uncommon, and you can dial it out anyway by pushing your Hue away from blue... For the price I paid this light is amazing especially after the firmware update. Supposedly it can charge the battery while its running if you give it enough power through DC or USB which is amazing, need to test that but sounds really promising since you can leave a battery attached and treat it as though its a built-in battery or replace the batteries and have that extra flexibility. Overall an amazingly small light that could potentially compete with Quasar rainbow lights at much lower price and size.
