you really need this. collimating made easy. as a beginner I would recommend this tool for anyone with a Newtonian reflector.

I have a Celestron 130 SLT and fund the Celestron Collimation Eyepiece was simple, easy to use, and gave me a perfect lineament without a lot of frills, lights, and knobs.

I used it for the Collimation calibration of my Celstron telescope. New and out of the box it was not able to see the moon. After I used the Collimation eyepiece I could see everything perfect. It is easy to Use but the calibration can take time if its way out like my scope was. The Cross hair wires inside are very easly broken So check to make sure they are in tack. My Eyepiece came an one Cross wire was broken lose from the side and I used CA glue to put it back and it worked just great. No need to send back. Worth every penny spent after seeing the super moon last week.

This tool is for aligning the primary and secondary mirrors in a reflector telescope. It's simple and solid, and most importantly, accurate. When fitted into the eyepiece tube of the scope, it can be rotated in any position, and the crosshairs stay centered on exactly the same spot through the pinhole, so you know it's giving an accurate reference. The sight picture: bright circles, black dot, and crosshairs, is easy to understand as you make adjustments to your mirrors.

I recently received my first Newtonian telescope, so I need to be able to collimate it. Even though I'd never performed a collimation before, with this eyepiece and the included instructions I was able to very accurately collimate my scope. The eyepiece itself is solidly constructed (not flimsy plastic) and fits perfectly in the 1.25" eyepiece holder. The included instructions are well-written, with helpful diagrams, and easy to follow. This is a decent collimation tool for moderately sized Newtonian reflectors (mine has a focal length of 650mm with a 130mm aperature), but for large Dobs I can see how a laser collimator would be more appropriate.

If you own a Newtonian scope you need to have this tool, or at least one similar to it. My astrophotography went from meh to amazing after collimation of my scope.

I use this product 1st when collimating my telescope. When i'm done collimating, I use it again to confrim my settings. The cross hair makes it easy to center the secondary under the focuser. JSWJ - Michigan Sky Quest XT 8"; Tasco 3" newt; Power Seeker 127

Very accurate collimation achieved easily and quickly. Beats any other method I have used, including star collimation.
