Celestron Cable for Nexstar Telescopes to RS232 Port.

If you have an older, pre 2016, Celestron hand control that has the RS 232 connector on the bottom of the controller you need this cable to connect it to you PC (Apple or PC) to update firmware on the motor controller and hand controllers you might have. Just make sure you follow the directions on the package and install the cable drivers for you operating system.

Does what it is supposed to do

Cable is a little on the thin side but it works fine. I am not sure I would use it outside for remote access as I dont know how it would handle extreme temp changes. For upgrading firmware its fine.

Great Product

My husband suggested this item for use with Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 use, to be used with my Celestron GT102 Telescope. I'm glad he found this product. Works as advertised wonderfully. The reason I gave it 4 stars is due to the product not having a case of some sort to protect while storing or using. Luckily I am a women that saves little sache bags and such. My personal sache came in extremely handy. Over all product is well made, easy to use, affordable and works well with my SGNote. Thank you for the opportunity to leave feedback.

Cable does its job

Great cable for connecting Celestron hand control to computer. You will need to supplement this with an RS232-USB converter if your PC doesn't have an RS232 port (most don't these days).

I was able to control my Celestron telescope with this adapter from my computer. Installation was easy and worked with the software that came with my telescope.

Needed this to update my remote. It worked well.

The RS-232 serial cable connects to the Nexstar hand controller and to the drive base port of some Shmidt Cassegrain Telescopes. The other end connects into a computer. One end of the cable is a phone type jack, (RS-232) and the other end is a standard serial computer input.

With CD ROM software this cable will enable your computer laptop or desktop to interface and control the telescope by pointing and clicking on sky maps shown on the computer monitor. With certain telescopes the cable allows downloading additional data from the Celestron website into the database of the Nexstar computer hand control.
