I am very impressed with the capability of this SCT so far. The 8" SCT combined with the CGEM II mount has been a great combination for my introduction to deep space photography. I still have a long learning curve to overcome but the telescope has provided some breathtaking observations already.

The tube arrived in great shape, carefully packaged, and is collimated well as far as I checked thus far. (For instance, it produces clear and sharp images of terrestrial targets like a distant sign or tree, incl. eben and natural colors. One warning: this tube comes with an extended visual back preinstalled, which is great - except that it means that it will not fit into the Celestron case that it should fit in (the smaller one that takes tubes up to and including 8? SCT?s like this one. Since no port cover is included, I ordered a short visual back that I can close with the included 1.25? plastic cover that did come with the tube for its extended visual back.

Great scope. Works well on my Skywatcher EQ6-R, with ASI294MC Pro, EFW, EAF, ASIAir Pro, Pegasus power distribution box, Celestron Dew Shield. All works together with minimum issues.

The OTA Is top notch. Quality build and looks really nice. The included accessories are pretty worthless for observational use. The included 90 degree diagonal, OTA SIDE, moves on its own when slewing with the two tension screws. You really gotta crank those puppies down really tight. It Does the same on the eyepiece side with eyepiece inserted. The finder scope is ok if you are contortionist. It CAN NOT be used as a auto guide later because all the sizes are from a different planet so nuthin sold would work. The CGEM eq mount is very well constructed and supports the 8hd flawlessly. Just add in all the upgrades you need to make it enjoyable and Clear Skies.

Great telescope but there is a pretty steep learning curve to climb before using it. I highly recommend the StarSense auto alignment accessory to make alignment automatic.
