This reducer works as advertised. The quality is great and the fact that it corrects for spherical aberration is a plus when compared to a lens that only reduces. Its like having another high quality eyepiece on the wide end of the spectrum. Gaining one and one-half f-stops reduces exposure times by about 65% so its very beneficial for those who want to do astro-photography.

Great for the price point. You get some expected vignetting (can be fixed with flat frames), but great performance.

Works perfectly with my Nexstar 6 SE. Especially those times when a wider field of view is desired.

Using this mainly for viewing DSO’s and Astrophotography. The reducer helped to make the sky darker and the objects popped out more brightly. The wider field of view is nice to have when star hopping. Use this on a CPC800 and 6SE.

I think every SCT must have this focal reducer / corrector. Increase in field of view really helps in star hopping. I strongly recommend this one.

The f/6.3 Celestron Reducer/Corrector brightened my view of deep sky objects while making the sky appear darker. Objects also appear sharper with a wider field of view. I use the Celestron f/6.3 Reducer for deep sky viewing to brighten my f/10 scope by 30.7% while maintaining the ability to quickly remove it for planetary viewing at higher power. Its like having two telescopes.

I got the Reducer/Corrector so I can get the entire moon in my Field of View. I use the CPC800 mostly for Deep Space shots with my Hyperstar F2 set up. I wanted the ability to get full lunar shots without having to take two in order to get the whole full moon. Not anymore! This also seals the back of the scope helps the keep the dust out. Canon T1i + CPC800 + Reducer/Corrector = Full Moon!

Using this beats looking for an eyepiece to give the widest field needed with an F/10 telescope. Put this focal reducer on and then use your widest field eyepiece and its there. I use this on my Celestron 9.25" SCT.

It really works well for astrophotography. It reduces exposure time and provides great sharpness on my pictures.

A telescope is as good as its weakest link. My c-14 optics were figured by Thomas Johnson himself...when I add this accessory, I'm retro-graded back to the days of half and 5/8 wave images and optics. Trust me, after a month it'll be that one item at the bottom of your eyepiece case that just sets there, and you'll occasionally pull it out to show your fellow observers.

Using this reducer/corrector is like getting a whole new set of eyepieces! Once you use it, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

Excellent optics. Much greater field of view on both my 6" and 8" SCT. Pinpoint stars across the field.

Used to decrease the focal length from 10 to 6.3 on a 9.25 Celestron CAT. Decreased focal length = increased light gathering power and wider field of view.

If you have a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, this accessory is a must! It offers wider field views (both viusal and photographic)that allow you to capture large objects such as vast Milky Way spans, Andomeda Galaxy, etc.

Review of Celestron Reducer / Corrector
By Scott
If you have a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, this accessory is a must! It offers wider field views (both viusal and photographic)that allow you to capture large objects such as vast Milky Way spans, Andomeda Galaxy, etc.
This combination focal reducer and field corrector lens accessory works with all Celestron C5, C8, C9.25, C11 and C14 telescopes. This clever accessory makes it possible to have a dual focal ratio instrument, without sacrificing image quality. The Reducer/Corrector is f/6.3 for C5, C8, C9.25 and C11 telescopes and f/7 for the C14 telescope.
If offers wide fields of view with any Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. Used for astrophotography, it reduces exposure time by a factor of 3.
Celestron doesn't offer a f/6.3 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, because the design is impractical, with a large central obstruction, and resulting loss in contrast. This, added to the inability to utilize longer focal ratios for certain objects, led Celestron to design the four-element, fully multicoated f/6.3 Reducer/Corrector. Results are amazing both visually and photographically.
