This is a challenging film. I?ve only shot and developed one roll so far, so I may have to update later on. For now: shot in flat lighting conditions (overcast skies) using a Yashica TLR, and developed using HC-110. Results were not impressive ? golfball-sized grain, muddy blacks, and poor detail retention in the highlights. That being said, the roll did not/not demonstrate the terrible QC problems plaguing the emulsion in other Foma in 120 format products. For that reason alone I?m inclined to give this one a second chance in a rig with lenses that will control lighting better, such as my Mamiya setup.

RETROPAN 320 soft is a panchromatically sensitized special negative black and white film with fine grain, good resolution and contour sharpness. The film is characterized by a wide range of half tones and soft light which makes it suitable for photography and subsequent contact printing or "retro" style enlarging of negatives (photographs of still lives, architecture, experiments, landscapes, portraits, etc.).
The sensitivity of the film is ISO 320/26degree. but its wide exposure latitude provides very good results also when overexposed by min. 1 EV (ISO 160/23degree.) and underexposed by 2 EV (1250/32degree). For turning into positives variable contrast enlarging papers are recommended - Fomabrom Variant and papers of warm tones of base and silver - Fomatone MG Classic 131, 132, 133, 532-II, 542-II. Other types of black and white enlarging papers may also be used. In order to emphasize monochromatic tonality or the vividness and plasticity it is possible to tone the papers - e.g. using Fomatoner Sepia brown toner.
Base
A gray or gray-blue cellulose triacetate base 0.125 mm thick.
