I give it a 5 for protection and 0 for usability. I use back button autofocus on a d500. Sometimes it focuses sometimes not. sometimes the autofocus sticks and does not stop autofocusing. Less critical buttons also are inconsistent. If I did not use back button af I would give this a 5.

And it looks kinda cool. I'm really hard on equipment. I don't drop things but constantly bump against things which can scratch nice equipment. I use similar silicon covers on VR equipment and they have helped to protect. I have no doubt this cover will do the same. It went on easy. It does cover the buttons running down the back, left side. The buttons still work fine but you have to remember what they are as the labels are covered up. Same thing on a few more buttons. No biggie though and I think worth it to protect the D500. Wish they made a similar item for the battery grip!

I habitually carry my camera on a Black Rapid cross body strap and I wore more than a little paint off my last camera. When I got my new D500 I decided to invest (quite modestly I thought) in a bit of protection. This cover does the job. Fits the camera perfectly and doesn't get in my way. And it looks cool with the "Real Tree" lens coat on my lens.

Love the camouflage color! Get compliments on it all the time. :) So far the cover is all good to me, havent had any problems with is. Really like the fact that it protects my camera while I am using it, rather than a regular bag that you only use when storing the camera.
