FAQ

What is the main purpose of the Haida NanoPro MC 100x150mm Soft Grad ND 8X (0.9) Multi Coated Glass Filter?

The main purpose of this filter is to reduce the amount of light entering the camera lens, which allows for a wider aperture or slower shutter speed while maintaining correct exposure. It's particularly useful for balancing exposure in scenes with bright and dark areas, such as landscapes with a bright sky and dark foreground.

What does the 'Soft Grad' in the product name refer to?

The 'Soft Grad' refers to the gradual transition of the filter's density from the densest part at the edges to the clearest part in the center. This soft graduation is ideal for scenes without a clear horizon line, or when you want a subtle transition between the filtered and unfiltered part of the image.

What is the benefit of the multi-coated finish on the Haida NanoPro MC 100x150mm Soft Grad ND 8X (0.9) Multi Coated Glass Filter?

The multi-coated finish helps to reduce reflections and glare, which can greatly improve the quality of your images. It also provides a level of protection to the filter, increasing its durability and lifespan.

Is there any color cast with the Haida NanoPro MC 100x150mm Soft Grad ND 8X (0.9) Multi Coated Glass Filter?

This filter has a very slight magenta cast, which can be easily corrected during post-processing with software like Lightroom.

Does Haida offer other types of filters in the Nano Pro line?

Yes, Haida offers a range of filters in the Nano Pro line. However, if you're looking for a medium edge filter, you might want to consider their Red Diamond line, although it's at a higher price point.

Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?SANDY D : It has good reviewsJAMES O : I have 77mm Nano Pro ND filters by Haida and they are great. Need to stack filters with CPL on a 17mm lens and get vignette. Also need 4 hands to hold all the pieces while screwing in and unscrewing the filters. Tried Nisi but found the "Landscape" polarizer to be blue/green while the NDs to be warm which made for some strange colors. Also didn't like the way the polarizer screws into the frame.

Haida 2 stop GND filter

Overall I?m pretty impressed with the quality and optical clarity of Haida brand neutral density filters, both solid and gradient. I haven?t noticed any color shift issues with any of the Haida brand filters. The NanoPro coating really seems to minimize finger prints and makes using filters a much more enjoyable experience.

Good product, fits in some situations

Yes,, the Reverse grad is good and needed in some cases. I see no color cast during processing. One thing is they are fragile. The coating in not in the glass, it is on the outside so be careful there. I have broken one of these. yep I dropped one and it hit the only rock near me of course. And by the way the VIP 360 is useless on getting it replaced. Their reason is it is not mechanical so it's not covered in the "Drop and Spills" I believe I dropped it. As in the title of the warranty you buy. But they said NO! This is what the Company 'New Leaf' said. VIP 360 is just good for the free shipping nothing else.

Great Glass Filter

I have round and plate type filters from Haida. The color is very neutral with a very slight magenta cast. It is easily removed with -2 or -3 on the Tint slider in Lightroom. I tested all of my Haida filters against a reference image with no filter. All images were shot using Einstien flash heads set to color consistancy mode against a white seamless background. To tell the difference in real world photos is nearly impossible. The reason for the 4 rating is because the Soft graduation is too gradual and only achieves the 3 stop reduction at the very end of the filter. Unfortunately Haida doesn't make a medium edge filter in the Nano Pro line. The Red Diamond line has the medium edge but cost a lot more.
