Excellent product. I love this scanner and how easy and simple it is to use. In the long run this scanner saved me money by not having to send my photo collection off to a company to digitize everything. It's a great product.

From the time I plugged it in, the power button won't turn on yet all the other lights were working. Tried to power off to reset but the power button just didn't work. That's the farthest I got. I asked for a replacement and got the return label from fed ex which took so long that I had to call back to see where is it. Returning it with fed ex was awful since my instructions for return is that I can either print at home or fed ex will take care of it. Fed ex wouldn't take the instructions until I hit print which my letter stated do not hit print if FedEx is going to print it. Also when I called back about the return, I was told that they do not have a replacement so I waited for no reason. The process of refund took longer because of the delay of not knowing they had no replacement. Now I keep getting emails about how I like my purchase. I never even got a chance to try it out.

Loving this scanner so far! Have zipped through almost 3000 photos so far on the 600dpi setting and it's been a breeze!

This was a nightmare. We chose to purchase directly from Epson rather than amazon. It performed poorly on documents and after 2 days we decided to return it. That's where the nightmare began. Send it via fedex or ups , send it with tracking , and $60 later at UPS , we could return it and get a refund for the cost of the machine. But in the end, it was a $60 cost for nothing. I will never purchase from this company again. What a rip off

Died about 13 months after purchase and not under warranty. Complete power board failure, no lights, completely dead and just out of warranty so there goes all my money in this expensive unit Epson refuses to compensate me for. Extremely disappointing experience. I have never spent this much on anything I had for such a short period of time.

We borrowed a friend's older model FF, and it worked beautifully. Purchased this current model and cannot get the software to run without crashing. The last driver update from Epson was added to the site in 2023. It's now 2026. Seems like a company that offers a product for over $600 should be able to hire someone to keep the software/drivers current with advancing operating systems. Come on, Epson. This feels extremely bait and switchy. Why would you make a fantastic product, but harness it to software that can't make it out of the gate? It's not like this problem is new. Other reviewers have pointed it out for over a year.

I was excited to purchase this photo scanner after an extensive review of similar products. The scanner would not connect and was clearly not fixed to resell. I had to contact the returns department (only by phone - no online option) several times to get an authorization for a return. The return shipping wasn't included and I was charged $84 at USP to return the defective scanner. What a huge waster of time and money. Maybe the original scanner works great but this one was lemon.

Speed of documents is slow; maybe 25 per minute. If there is a post it on the paper the scanner stops completely until you remove it. And start the documentation again.

Received a broken machine. I am now on week 3 of trying to get Epson to send me a new unit. They say they are going to but never do.

I purchased this specifically to batch scan old photos. It is problematic. It doesn't like photo paper that isn't very thin. And even then, I'm having great difficulty with the printer. It won't scan. It started out scanning some not all of my prints. The heavier the stock, the hard it was. I had to do them one at. a time. Not optimal. Then I tried photos from the last 1980's which have the thin photo paper. Worked great one time. The VERY NEXT batch, the scanner threw an error (all lights flashing) and since, I can't get it cleared. I've tried everything that I can find on support pages. I'm even going to re download the software on a PC (was using it on a MAC). I don't think it works. Also, think its stupid that you can't submit a review without at least one photo or a link to a youtube video

Its about a month since I purchased the product. Generally, the product is good, and performs per the specifications Have scanned about 200+ 3x5 photos at 600DPI. Satisfied with the speed and quality of scanning. A few tips: As recommended by a reviewer in Amazon, sort the photos into landscape and portrait mode in advance. Double check the scan DPI, folders to store and double side scanning settings before starting a new batch. Finally: The installation does have an issue: One Step scanning fails repeatedly. Have tried removing the drivers and reinstalling, but does not resolve the issue. So, gave 4 stars instead of 5

If I could leave less than one star I would. This scanner is literally the worst in existence. I have to scan photos one by one and often it "jams" and I have to check my computer to see which photos scan, and if you use Microsoft, it will absolutely not show up in order. I have had to sort through thousands of photos when this scanner ? you know, doesn't scan. One by one. One by one. It brags it can take 30 photos at a time. Let me tell you. It. Does. Not.

Bought it this week and have already scanned over 100 pictures. Not bad but it does come with issues. First, if there is old tape or glue on the back of a picture, it jams. The back has to be scrapped clean and pristine. Secondly, it will not scan Polaroids. Too thick. An entire generation used Polaroid cameras so there are millions of those out there, fading and rotting. I have a flatbed scanner for those but many don't have that option.

I purchased the FF-680W to expand the capabilities of my forensic investigation and engineering practice, replacing an 8-yr old DS-560 (this was a workhorse). I needed improved photo scanning capabilities and the 680 aptly meets those demands. The file management abilities of "Document Management Pro" that came with the DS-560 spoiled me. I was able to have several custom quick scan tabs that allowed a quick scan with documents scanned with detailed settings and stored at select locations (i.e. documents, checks, photos). I attempted to create customized actions in the Epson ScanSmart that came with the 680 and learned that similar customized actions are no longer available. Hence, additional steps are needed to store documents at your select locations after changing the settings for the nature of instrument saved.

Bought this unit Feb 2, 2025, it is fast and convenient BUT it is advertised as a photo scanner and it does that BUT the quality of the scan is very poor. I tried adjusting setting but could not get it to do a good job. Wish I had my $659.00 dollar back.

I have several fairly good flatbed scanners, all acquired over the last fifteen years. But I certainly now like the FF-680W the most -- for its speed, and CHOICE to either do PDF or JPG. I use pro versions of slide scanners for my slides, like the old Nikon Coolscan or PlusTek scanners. For all other work, like thousands of old articles, contracts, and paper files I NOW use the FastFoto FF-680W -- flatbed takes way too long time. I especially like the accompanying software that quickly sends my JPG or PDF files to separate folders which I have control over. That is essential -- I didn't have to go out and purchase separate Document Management software. My only slight reservation so far is some hiccups if I put a thicker paper in the plastic see-through sleeve (that came with the purchase). It is very sensitive to thickness. Maybe there are settings for this which I have not learned yet. Bottom line observation: If you have a couple of thousand documents, including old photos and you want to quickly file/scan ALL of it into digital retrievable files or documents, I doubt there is anything better on the market today than the FF-680W BobArno

After searching specifically for a photo scanner I decided on this Epson Scanner. The reviews were mostly positive and although it is expensive I am happy with the scanner. Setup was fairly easy with no issues. I have to say, a lot of what I am scanning are OLD photos and the automatic enhancement of the scanned image is nice. I would recommend this to my friends.

I got this as a gift from my late husband. I am enjoying using this machine to store all of my photographs and documents. I have had no problem using it with my MacBook Pro. I am wondering if there is a similar machine that would transfer 35 mm slides to my MacBook? That would be wonderful! Right now, I am enjoying this little gadget.

Completely non-working product and TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVEN WITH A WARRANTY. The product came to me in an undamaged box. However, the product did not turn on at all. I called for a replacement, And was promised one,but they were out of stock and completely unable to provide any other alternative. I was offered a minor discount on a full price item, but that was out of my budget. The customer service people were really unhelpful. Unfortunately, I ended up getting a refund and going with a different product altogether from a different company due to the poor communication and healthy customer service. I kind of broke my trust with the company. I was promised call back multiple times and did not receive them. This is altering the holidays when everything is time sensitive. I had to reach out multiple times. Also, the customer service representative was just very unclear and ended up changing what she said later.

Impossible to setup on my configuration. FastFoto app not supported with Windows 11 so I can't use it on my laptop. Scanner does not support 5G wireless so it can't be setup on my iPhone and home network. How is it possible that Epson can't stay current for what is not a unique configuration. And best yet, Best Buy does not take returns on this once opened.

I bought this to use with my 2024 iMac, as the ad said it was Mac compatible, but I was shocked that in trying to download software it seems it could only be loaded on an iPad or iPhone. I had to borrow my son's iPad (which did NOT make him happy) in order to load the software and use it to scan photos. The scanner did handle various photos beautifully, but the ads for the product are misleading. You seem lightyears behind Apple versions of OS, and that is a big flaw.

Did my analysis, read the reviews and then ordered this scanner so I could get started scanning all our old photos. Followed the instructions and when I selected my Mac OSX 15.x from the driver download page I was informed that Epson hasn't finished the driver software that is compatible with the latest OSX. Now the scanner is sitting on my desk and I'm now checking their website every few days to see if it's available. I'm considering sending it back and looking for a scanner that works with the latest operating system.

Received this scanner as a Christmas gift over a year ago. Works great as far as scanning photos and documents and receipts BUT i have had no luck connecting to the WiFi at home so i have to use the USB cable to connect to my computer. I'm not sure if its the scanner or my Mac Book Air that is the problem. Don't seem to be able to find any Epson software updates either. Wonder if its better to use a windows computer.

My husband and I bought this a few months ago to scan our family photo archives. We have some that had faded and b&w photos that looked muddy. Using it is easy and the photo images are nicely enhanced. I've just recommended it to my large extended family with the hope they'll scan and post the photos they've been promising to send out!

I just got my Epson FastFoto Scanner yesterday & I couldn't wait to use it. The install was super easy. I used it for the first time today and it is awesome! Super fast and easy to organize your photos onto your computer. I can't wait to continue with my big project of scanning my thousands of pictures i have accumulated over the last 50 years for the future enjoyment of my family to be able to view all these photographs digitally. I love it! I would recommend it to anyone and I've only used it for one day! I'm a happy customer.

Digitizing family photos from last 30 years. This product just works. Waited a long time for the Epson version. 1200 dpi with enhancement takes some computer horsepower, be sure to match Epson OS version with your computer OS version for best results. Results are worth it and so easy for making digital (printed) albums. Thank you Epson.

I had to buy this in order to create a slide show for my mother's memorial service (since Target no longer had a scanner). It is THE GREATEST machine EVER! It scans old and new photos perfectly! I scanned all of my mother's photos and then put them on a flash drive and was then able to throw the originals away and didn't have to drag them all back to Montana from Chicago.
