First off.. I was really leery about purchasing this thing. I wanted to go with some more “pro” meters, but the cost of them combined (it would take two to do what this thing does) would have approached $1.7K. Ouch. I’m always suspicious of these thing that just come off kickstarter and never sure if the company building this stuff really has their act together or if it all just vaporware to get funds raised. I’ve been using the IM100 for several days. It works. Period. It’s not a jicky toy or an almost there product. It actually does what it says it can do and I haven’t had any issues with it. The color temp meter is about as spot on as I can get matching it to a high $$ unit for reference. The exposures it also provides are pretty much on the money. I haven’t used it for flash exposures extensively, because frankly it’s hard to beat Canon’s E-TTL setup. But for film making this thing is proving to be invaluable. I can get accurate lighting ratios, even green screen lighting, ambient real-time readings, and color correction gel recommendations for matching lights. The GUI on the app could be a bit better, but it does work once you get used to it. It would be nice if it could put in ND corrections, but that really hasn’t been a problem. I’m connecting it to a Galaxy 6 phone, no issues thus far. I think some people with newer Apple phones MAY have had some issues. The app will not run on my Galaxy tablet (but it never said it could…). For the asking price this thing is a bargain. It’s small, lightweight, packs easily, and can fit in a pocket or on a lanyard. The setting for stills and video (shutter angle vs. fraction of second) all work. I’m sure the manufacturer will continue to tweak the app and firmware. But for me, so far so good. I’m impressed! Some of the early users may have had some issues, but it seems like these have been corrected via updates by the manufacturer. It’s worth some serious consideration.

For the money I thought it would have a lot more color accuracy. It’s not off by much but it is enough to make me not fully trust the color measurements. It is way way more accurate than the Lumu I wasted my money on though. From an app perspective, I have still not been able to find a way to set to 180 degree shutter vs shutter speed and that is really important to me. I may just need to play with it more.
