I was not really expecting too much from this lens but confess I was very surprised; I thought results like this could only be achieved with SLRs and expensive lens. I noticed a cardinal sitting in a tree just waiting to be photographed, there wasn't time to set up a tripod and it was very windy that day. There was considerable camera shake (Due to the wind) yet all the photographs were beautifully in focus, detailed and sharp; even the bird's eyes were bright and very visible. I am impressed!

A bit tricky to get the threads started and you have to set the focal all the way out to avoid the black edges, but they can actually be used to enhance the photo and get rid of surrounding areas, so it's not a major 'bad'. Just something you have to learn to play with.

I got this lens to make the Olympus SP-560UZ better and it DOES. I use my camera for nature and Bird pictures.I wanted to try this lens and get things closer. Its hard to believe how great it does.It does add some weight to the camera, but still a great lens.

It basically works OK, my SP560 even takes good pictures with it when I forget to enable it in the menu. I am a bit disappointed though by the extension of focal range. I had expected more from "1.7" but this might just be me...

I have used this for a few months on my Fuji Finepix 9100/9600 (the model # depends on country!) While it will not magically transform your lens into a top-end piece of glass, it does get the job done at a low price. On the Fuji, adding this tele-converter is a cheap way of significantly extending the zoom. If you're looking for tack sharp photos at maximum zoom then this is not for you. Neither is it for you if you expect to take pictures in low light. Finally, it's also not for you if you expect to use the full range of your zoom with it on (at the short end of the zoom, there is heavy vignetting - it's like looking down a dark tunnel). A couple other points. While I found it easy enough to get off and on, it did require a converter ring (different diameters on the TCON and my camera - make sure you check your camera and get an adapter ring). It's not hard, but make sure you expect that. It's not a 2 second on and off. More like a minute. Longer if you want to make sure that all dust is off the lens and the TCON before joining them together. Lastly on the negatives, to be fair, since I have only used it on my Fuji, it may well be that the TCON is just accentuating flaws in the lens on my Fuji rather than introducing anything new. e.g. it may just be making the chromatic aberration (purple fringing in my case) worse rather than introducing something new. However, if you're looking for a cheap way to extend your reach with your lens and are not too worried about super-sharp focus and low light performance, then this gets the job done cheaply. I really can't complain about the price - and didn't have super-high expectations when I bought it. For me, the added reach has significantly outweighed any of the downsides, but I made that conscious choice when I made the purchase. I have enjoyed using the TCON to get better shots of birds in particular - and it has really helped me to identify some of them back at home with my guide-books! Again, remember though, this is a low cost solution and it's unlikely your pics will end up in a magazine using it!

Was hoping to get the maximum amount of zoom from a reasonably priced method. Combined with the SP570UZ's 20x zoom, effective to 34x zoom. Add the digital cropping, and you're golden. However, you can't have everything for nothing - this lens will slightly lower your image clarity, but it can usually be regained through filtering and effects. Also, the adaptor tube and this lens combined give your nearsight limit to about half zoom - any less and the adaptor tube inhibits the image. Not sure if the extra bit of zoom power is worth the price, but its nice to have!

With the Olympus TCON-17 tele conversion len, I don't need to buy a new camera with higher optical zoom.

I've used the Olympus TCON-17, 1.7x Tele Conversion lens with satisfactory results in birds. One of the things that pleases me most is that greatly improves the image captured with the optical viewfinder with the zoom to the maximum (20x).

This product does what it was designed for. Out doors good lighting It performs well. Do not expect results in low light conditions. It performs well in Video or Photo mode with good lighting conditions It added a lot more functionality to my camera. It does make that camera look more Professional also. People stop and look.

I like to road hunt wildlife. This gives me the added optical zoom I need for this purpose. I use a mono pod with an adjustable head braced on the seat as well. Or bags over the window. I'm glad I bought it.

Does a great job when on a tripod. I wouldn't attempt to use it handheld without some type of Image Stabilization feature.

The Olympus SP550 UZ is not half the camera it should be without this teleconverter.

The 1.7X telephoto lens almost doubles the distance I can shoot with my current 10X optical Olympus digital camera. The lens cannot be attached to the camera without a lens adapter (which was not included with the 1.7X lens I purchased) which necitated a trip to the camera store and addition cost I did not anticipate in order to use the lens.

You really have to think about a shot before using it. This is both good and bad. It will in most cases be just what is needed to make a shot work. The Olympus C-4000 is an awesome camera by itself. This converter along with the wide angle keeps this camera relevant.

I really enjoy using this lens with my Panasonic FZ-30. The extra reach is gives me is great. However, unless the sun is very clear and strong, expect to get out of focus pictures at longer ranges.

I'm using with Kodak P880. Has some vignetting, but this was expected and is easily corrected by cropping. Overall good sharpness.

Extend the capabilities of your digital camera with the TCON-1.7x Telephoto Converter lens. This telephoto lens will increase the magnification of your subject by 1.7x when your camera lens is set to the telephoto position. This will help you bring in the subject when you can't get closer, for example, shooting sports or concerts. Please see below for additional items required to attach this lens to your camera.
The following models require the CLA-1 and 43-55mm Step-Up Ring: C-2000/2020/2040/3000/3020/3030/3040/4000/4040/5050 Zoom
The following models require the CLA-4: C-740/750 C-765/770 & SP-500 Ultra Zoom
The following models require the CLA-10 SP-550UZ/SP-560UZ/SP-565UZ/SP-570UZ
The following models require the 49-55mm Step-Up-Ring: C-2100UZ/E-100RS
The following models require the 43-55mm Step-Up Ring: D-500/600/620/C-2500L
Note: Teleconverter lenses extend the camera's telephoto range. This lens is not intended for use at wide-angle zoom settings. Zooming to a wide-angle setting with this lens attached will cause vignetting (darkening) on the frame of the image
Note: This lens is not compatible with the C-700/720/730 Ultra Zoom models due to the type of lens design used by these models.
