This camera has it all.. except for an optical viewfinder. That aside, it's an amazing piece of machinery that will produce great photos. It's smaller than my dSLR, looks great, and packs quite a punch regarding image quality and speed. It may not be for everyone, I think it's a "love it or hate it" situation, but if you want an EVIL camera or MILC, the K-01 with its sensor and proper K-mount will kick any other camera's butt.

I want a camera which I can take every day. So, DSLR is out of my consideration. But the powerful lens of DSLR are attractive, that's the main reason why I choose K01, which can use DSLR lens directly. Somebody doesn't like the modeling at all, but its special style also attracts me. Meanwhile, its performance is pretty good. Actually, the focusing is quick enough for me, although most people think it's a little slow. The point I don't satisfy is that, the shield of SD card port and other ports, is made by soft rubber, but not hard material. It's not solid, and easy to open it accidentally, and inconvenient to close it.

I tried a couple highly rated point and shoot type cameras as my travel camera and hated both of them. Then I tried the Pentax K 01. The K 01 instantly became my travel camera. It's a lot lighter and less bulky than my great K 5 with a battery grip and a couple lenses..(If you're toting a camera through airports and aboard planes, that's important..) It does nearly everything a good dslr does and for casual shooting it's fine.If you're used to a dslr, the focusing is just a little noisy, slow and not quite as accurate. Still, it requires very little tweaking on a photo editing program. All in all it does what I want it to do and is more than I expected it would be. Yes, I miss my K 5. It remains my camera for serious photography, but the K 01 is a lot less imposing and almost as flexible.

The K-01 is a really comfortable to hold, is fun to shoot with and has great image quality.

its almost a perfect camera. its very easy to use even to a amateur photographer, the image quality is great for portrait or landscape, the lcd is very sharp and the pancake lens is very sharp also. all that with a price i cant say but WOW. although i didnt like the slow autofocus and lack of viewfinder.

Love at first sight and touch! White color is really cool in person. Great backup for my K-5. AF speed is very quick and focus-peaking makes manual focusing much easier with legacy lenses. Controls are easy to learn, but more menu driven. Superb handling due to solid aluminum construction. This is no toy camera, Pentax has always punched above its weight category and this is no exception. Image quality and high iso capabilty can stand up to goliaths like Canon 5D Mk3!
