Before our daughters wedding last year my wife charged me with finding a "good" camera so she could take some good pictures of all the events leading up to and including the day of the wedding. I am here to tell you our pictures were as good as any our very expensive photographer took. We have now taken well over 2000 pictures of everything from holidays to vacations. You will never regret the purchase of this camera. Oh and don't forget to add a zoom lens or two I did and I was able to take some shots worth writing home about. One last thing I don't work for Sony... I just really love this camera.

Wow, thats all I can say.... My experience with Cameras goes back to SLR 35mm, and I have had to put up with point-and-shoot cameras for over 10 years, I finally was feedup and purchased the a350. Right away I fell in love again with SLR, with the added advantage of everything being auto ( except zoom ) and the instant gratification of a live view to frame the shoot and instant review after the shot on a clear LCD screen. My wife has been an addict of the Olympus C-3000Z, it does get GREAT pictures, but is a kids toy compared to the creative capabilities of the Sony a350. Right away I pushed her to start playing and with in minutes she had captured images of both people and still life in ways unique to her. I did have some concern after reviewing some photos and noticing that the edges showed some red/blue offset, after taking a few test pictures with a fixed focal length len from my old SLR that the problem was not in the body/sensor, but in the lens its self... The old lens did not have the offset, but also did not have the clarity of the Sony lens at the edges... Also I love taking LONG exposure shots of landscape and using moon light or other low light sources to light the area, with my Olympus it was no problem, with the Sony I am going to have to go read the manual to get it working because even with 15+ second exposures I am not getting anything except items near light sources. The user friendly menu and location of the buttons is great, the ability to use the eyepiece or LCD is amazing and it automatically turns off the LCD when you put the camera up to your eye to reduce glare and save battery... This has been the best purchase I have made since I purchased an HDTV to replace my 27 inch tube TV. If you can't imagine spending the money on a good camera, keep purchasing $200-$300 cheep cameras and replacing them every year, it adds up faster then you can imagine. Unleash the creative beast inside and get to taking photos with a Sony D-SLR, its background is rich due to the source of the alpha name ( Minolta ) <<>> Once you get one, you WILL be having fun and wanting to buy all the cool add ons that are available ( flash, macro lens, telephoto lens, carrycase, filters, etc.. ) BUT... JUST THINK OF THAT FIRST POSTER WITH TONS OF DETAIL!!! YAHHH!!!!

This has been the best camera I have ever had! I got it for Christmas (08) and it's now May 09 and have already taken almost 4000 pictures! I have very few bad things that I could say about it.

Sony's a (alpha) DSLR-A350 raises the bar with incredible 14.2 MP detail. This model pushes the envelope, setting a new standard of excellence for step-up digital photographers shooting both family memories and fine-art photos.
Live Preview in a large 2.7" LCD screen links you and your subject-and you'll have special features like super-quick AF response, continuous shooting at 2 fps while you see your subject in the viewfinder, Creative Style modes for quick recall of custom settings and in-camera Super SteadyShot image stabilization that reduces blur for every Sony, Carl Zeiss and legacy Minolta a-mount lens.
