Came apart on first trip. Less than a month from purchase

I bought the 3k tripod with ballhead for a recent trip. I used it with a camera that is well within the weight limit stated by the product (camera weighs 1.5 lbs). On the second day of my trip, the quick release housing separated from the mechanism causing the spring assembly inside and quick release button to come apart and become lost as I was trying to shoot video. I expected to get more than a couple of shoots from something i paid so much for. I tried contacting their warranty department (email is the only way listed on their website) and have not received a reply yet. It's been over a week. I'm pretty disappointed in the product and company so far.
