Well made very smooth finish. Small size fits the base of many tripod heads. Larger size for large heads. Changing heads on the tripod is fast and eliminates the possibility of cross threading when in a hurry or cold stiff hands. Swap heads on one tripod or between tripods.

I have been using Kirk quick release plates for years. I haven't bought one in quite a long time. I recently acquired a Nikon D810 which I needed a QR plate for. I found that the attention to detail and workmanship of the Kirk brand has evolved tremendously over the years. It's not just a chunk of machined metal !! It's truly well thought out, in design.

I USE ITY FOR MY SIGMA 50-100MM F1.8 IT IS PERFECTLY BALANCED ON THE TRIPOD AND LOOKS LIKE IT BELONGS..NO COMPLAINTS

This is currently (November 2016) the only plate available for an XT-2. I have two XT-2 cameras, but initially only bought one plate because this Kirk plate has a quirky 3/4 length design. As soon as it arrived and I installed it, I ordered a second. The 3/4 length allows it to do everything (well, okay 90%) you want a plate to do, but it leaves the battery door free and clear. I have a full-length Fuji brand plate for my XT-1; sometimes the battery is a tight fit and getting it out of the camera with the full plate is difficult (e.g., like last weekend's super moon interval shooting on a tripod ... yep). Not so with this design. Highly recommended.
