Turned on, but I never got HDMI sync - no image showed up on my 4k-capable HDMI capture device, or on monitors connected. Replaced with a much cheaper s-video converter, no issues at all.

This converter only converts VGA to 1080P, not 4K. False advertisement from the manufacturer about 4K. Don't waste your time and money buying this if you expect 4K output.

I needed an affordable solution that would allow me to convert the analog output from an old VHS player to HDMI for viewing on a modern flat panel HDTV. The Kanex Pro has proven to be the perfect solution. Highly recommended.

This product works well. I bought it so I could continue to use a fine video cassette recorder (VCR) with a new UHD television that has no component inputs. The Kanex Pro Converter was delivered before the new TV, so I tested the converter using the VCR with an HDMI connection to a seven-year-old Samsung HDTV. Presto! It worked. However, you need to be aware of an annoying quirk with the new TV I bought (and perhaps, some other TV's as well) that rendered the converter unusable with it. For various reasons, I chose a Samsung UN49MU8000 model. This is a very good TV; however: (1) In addition to an RF antenna port, it has only four HDMI ports and no other input ports. (Hence, the desirability of a converter.); and, (2) Although there is no rational reason the converter shouldn’t be able to work with the TV, Samsung’s kindergarten-level setup software doesn’t just let you plug in a component and “fly” with it. Instead, setup software “perceives” the Kanex Pro as a “Blu-Ray DVD player” and requires the customer to select a brand from a limited list of choices. Kanex Pro was not among the choices and I couldn't find a way to make the connector work with this TV. This is quite a disappointment and I’m not quite sure just what to recommend to you to avoid encountering this anomaly. The steep $ price for the converter is great value if, and only if, you are able to use it. Yes, I’m able to connect the VCR to the new TV via the VCR’s and TV’s respective RF ports, but what an inferior connection, indeed, the booby prize.

I am using this to distribute a vga signal to two projectors from a switcher that has an SDI output. This device is working just fine and I am able to output 1920x1080p to these projectors. The display quality is really nice, and I'm sure it would be a bit sharper if I run SDI to the projectors and convert to HDMI at the projectors themselves, but we already have VGA cable run to these projectors, making this an easy choice.

The KanexPro composite or S-video to HDMI converter is a classic fit for legacy, analog A/V equipment that requires seamless integration into today's home theater environment. It converts composite video or S-video with RCA audio signals to HDMI.
The converter has a high-performance scaling engine that up-converts interlaced video signal to 720p. It also takes the R+L audio and encodes it to the HDMI signal for high-resolution video and audio playback. Ideal and cost-effective for legacy home-theater equipment that needs the transition to HDMI displays.
