Lensbaby Composer for Nikon F Mount SLR's

I like to use it for photographing people; mostly engagements and weddings outdoors as you need a lot of light for it to work well (it's all manual). I have days when it works great, and days where I can't get a decent shot. Could be me...it takes practice, but I really like it when it works!

Makes you learn how to use your camera on manual. Great fun once you get accustomed to changing setting.

I bought the lensbaby with the macro kit, .6 wide, 1.6 tele and 52mm Adapter/Shade. Unfortunately the accessories only mount on the lens and can't be used in combination. So, no macro and 1.6 tele or .6 wide and filter. Also cheaply made, focus mechanism is jerky and the tilt lock changes the focus. When you add up the total cost, it's also expensive.

It's not a toy, it's a great lens that makes you think what you really want to achieve. The quality of the images is more than I expected and is forcing me to improve my skills as a photographer, to plan ahead what I want to achieve, the only downside I see to it is that is difficult to focus in low light conditions.

It makes an interesting effect, which can be nice sometimes. It can be nice as a creative tool, to spark creative ideas. However, it's cheap plastic, cheaply made. I think it should cost half as much as it does, or less.

Since I have purchased my Lensbaby composer, I pretty much leave it on all the time. It is a manual focus lens and takes some practice as try to figure out the sweet spot. The effects you get are really cool and I like how it adds depth and motion to my shots. You have to adjust your aperture through rings that you manually install, sounds crazy but it is really easy and I switch out apertures a lot.
