Questions & Answers

Shopper : Trying to decide between this and the wide-angle version. I'd be using this on a 35mm lens. Will it vignette?PAUL C : Yes, it can if you use on wide angle lens. I use a 28-70 on my 5D and there is vignetting. BRIAN C : The WIDE ANGLE rubber lens hood is the best bet to avoid vignetting,ROGER M : This has worked for me very well. I took it to Ireland with me. The only thing is that you have to be careful and "look" and see if you can detect it being there. I say this because I took a series of photos at this one stop in Ireland and when I got them home it looked like I was shooting from a tube. I was click, click, click, click, without "seeing" through the lens. Other than that, it's a great tool.AXEL V : Attached to a 24-105 on Canon 7d. No vignetteDONALD S : I'm sorry I am unable to answer your question.
PATRICIA S : Does this collapse for storage ?AXEL V : Yes, this collapses for storage, color is not really black but grayish.CHRIS K C : Yes this collapses flat.ROGER T : YesCHARLOTTE S : Yes, it does collapse... to the height of the outer ribbed ring.ROGER M : Yes. And the thing I like about it is that it's made sturdy (as sturdy as rubber can be) :0) I owned another rubber lens hood that would "telescope" to different sizes, and that was pretty flimsy. But I really like this one. You just have to be careful about vignetting or even worse, having your photos look like they're shot from inside a tube. Otherwise it's pretty good deal for $.JOHN D : Yes, I have had mine several years and it has functioned well. I thought it might crack where it collapses but this has not happened to mine yet and hopefully won't. I consider this to be an excellent value and would buy it again if I ever needed to. Presently I use this with lenses on an XTi and 7D body. A bonus feature (besides storage collapsing) is that you can collapse this hood on a lens attached to the camera you are using if you suddenly want or don't want a hood. I find that very convenient. Hope this helps!JOE S : Yes it does collapse and works well for what it is but will not take place of a more solid hoodHARRY J : Yes, it collapses so that it is only the thickness of the metal threaded ring. It is a useful lens hood and durable. I use it all the time.PAUL C : Yes and for access to adjust a polarizer. Plus it is added bump protection. Hope this helps. Good light to you always.DORA P : Yes it does.JIM B : YesJIM E : It collapses down to about 1/2", the very reason I purchased one!LOU T : Yes it does collapse to fit my case.It extends a good distance for blocking the light when shooting into the sun, also is very economical. LouDAVID G : yes it does !WILLIAM M : YesCAROLE M : yes it does
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?SYED K : Avoid stray lighting or flares.

Needs better glue

Easy to attach, collapses from 1 1/2 to 1/2 inch so easy to store which makes it preferrable to me over an all plastic hood. The shooting in a 'tube' effect shows up at or below 20mm, but is visible in my viewfinder. My only gripe is the glue used. I am ordering a second one and will immediately try the same fix as my first by separating the rubber hood from the threaded fitting. Then will apply contact cement using a tooth pick, reassemble and wait 48 hours for a permanent connection between the 2 pieces.

An adaptable hood that folds back

I have used rubber lens hoods for a long time, back to the film era on my Cannon A1. Just got a T3i. Took a picture with the sun off just to the side of the frame and had reflection off the les that shows in the picture. With this lens hood deployed - no reflection - a great picture. The hood does exactly what is should. Works down to about a 20mm lens. Great for telephoto lenses.

58 MM Lens hood

This is a great hood for most situations but may be too short in some

A decent lens hood

Needed a good lens hood that was compact and wouldn't take up much space in my small gear bag. This lens hood fit the bill very well. The rubber hood collapses easily when not needed, and has internal threads for attaching filters. It's made of lightweight rubber, so not sure how it will hold up long term. But at such an econmonical price, it's easily replaced.

Rubber bumper

I keep one of these handy lens protectors on any time I'm out in the fields or in crowded situations. My daughter is a budding photog now so I gave her one as a stocking stuffer.

Easy on, easy off

Love these rubber lens hoods. Easily push back out of the way, another protection for the front of the lens. Only down size is the rubber discolors a little.

Rubber lens hood as plastic replacement

A rubber lens cover is superior to the plastic ones in durability. It would be better at protecting the camera if it had a double rim.

Cheaply made, but it works

I don't recall anymore just what I paid for this, but for the [$] I paid, I'm satisfied. There is visible glue coming from the seams which makes this thing kinda unsightly, but hey....it still works just fine.

just ok

This seems like an ok hood, but is bulky and doesn't feel like it will last very long. It will get me through until I can save enough allowance to buy a dedicated hood

Cheap, works well

Cheap alternative to some of the rediculously priced hoods out there. This works best with medium telephoto lenses and, as with all Adorama branded products, is well made and functional.

Lens hoods guard against uncontrolled, stray light and unwanted reflections which result in reduced contrast and possible "ghost Images". In general, the use of a lens hood is recommended because better contrast improves the appearance of the photograph. This accessory also offers protection for the front lens element against rain and mechanical damage.

Rubber Lens Hood are made out of a high quality matte black rubber. It folds down and protects against contrast - reducing, uncontrolled, stray light.
